Re: 1/32 Dauntless Photo's

I think the whole thing boils down to what I have been saying to Hobby Master all along and they have the same feeling, "you only get one chance to make a first good inmpression". So I think they want the first public pictures to be the one that leaves you with that first good impression.

If this school of thought were followed, the Airacobra would have been painted incorrectly!

My argument exactly but.................. If things change I think it will be more closed shop. Input will be sought but it won't be open to unlimited input and who will be involved I don't know. That is if it comes to this.

Bummer...it sounds like you think it will come to this.

Re: 1/32 Dauntless Photo's

Hawk said that HM was concerned that potential purchasers would make their final decisions based on seeing the less-than-perfect pre-production. In my case they were right. I saw the pre-production shots of the SBD and decided I had to get one. I was not going to get one as I did not need to start another scale, but it looks too good to pass up. I have long been an SBD enthusiast and know quite a bit about them. Yes, there are flaws in the pre-production pictures, but I see that it will still be an outstanding diecast model, and I assume the flaws will be corrected. Being an SBD fan, I can't pass this one by. It looks like a winner.

Re: 1/32 Dauntless Photo's

Whew, so glad these are pre-pro pics. That third rivet on the port side, second row was not flush. Come on guys, we know the deal with HM, they always slip out a few pics before the final near perfect model comes out. Why would we expect anything less now? Hawk, I like the bird but the price and size might be an issue. However that is just me, I'm sure many others will grab it up quickly.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: 1/32 Dauntless Photo's

Personally, I think this HM 1/32 Dauntless looks good and the final version will undoubtedly look even better

Regrettably, I believe that the pricing (approx. $150) will be its downfall and it will most likely end up being 'dumped' like the excellent GMP P40s and Mustangs .

For those interested House of Hobbies in Burbank has two additional pre-pro photos posted. Clearly from the same batch but different angles.

I'll hold off for BBI's Dauntless, while plastic, it will be much more affordable, and yes, it is also 1/32..
