Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

I received my Spit XIV yesterday, and I must say, even with the couple of caveats already documented on this forum: WELL DONE HM!!!

Overall, I'm very happy with this model. I still do hope HM will take into consideration the comments posted about the pathetic pilot and the canopy sliding mechanism in particular, but at this price point, no one can complain.

Please HM, keep the 1/48 scale models coming. And yes, after the F-9F, a P-39 would be awesome. And then a Typhoon, and...

In the future the pilot will have a parachute and since he sits on it it should boost him enough.

OK, that should help. He does still seem a bit under-nourished to me, but hey, minor point. Real humans do come in various sizes!

By the way, I'm definitely getting the second Spit XIV as soon as it's out (with or without a better pilot).

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

"MY" Spit just arrived today (along with a couple Gemini ME-109s) as well. The fit and finsih are fantastic - actaully alot better than I hoped. I really don't care about pilots, as they go in my parts bag. One minor issue - the canopy was scratched on the starboard side, as described by others on the forum. No big problem though.

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

Got my Johnson Spit last night as well. It looks almost blemish free except for one minor problem...the cockpit portside sidedoor 'raises' up when I close the bubble canopy!!! I will have to investigate further to come up with some sort of fix on this one...otherwise it is a superb looking model and very happy with it.

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

Even though mine arrived without a scratch on the canopy, I hope HM takes notice of this problem and makes an attempt to correct it (shouldn't be too hard to add a little extra protection around it in the box).

Post Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

My JEJ arrived yesterday cert no 155 & I have to say that for around £30 it is excellent value, the fit & finish are top rank on my specimen which leaves me looking forward to the second release with great anticipation, this is also my first foray into 1:48 scale birds IMHO the scale is spot on for fighters ....I think I am hooked....now HM what about 1:48 Mustangs & Fw190s may be with figures as in the Corgi Flight Line series.

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

I have both Spitfires on pre-order. I also second that after the F9F a P-39 in 1/48 would be awsome.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Didn't your model come with Johnnie? It should have had a figure and as far as I know all the new 1/48 will have figures.

Will the Buffalos start coming with a pilot?
