Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

Yeah, I thought you'd like that, Cardo.

I guess my viewpoint is I've seen this kind of hype/frenzy before on this forum (not too often, but a few times), so I wasn't sure why you were singling out this particular release.

Personally, I'm happy that this model seems to be selling so well. Gives hope to 1/48 collectors that manufacturers (other than FM/Armour) will take note and come up with more future releases in that scale (like a P-39, please).

FVD

I'm also very happy for HM that it's selling well and it is without a doubt good value for money. It's just that when compared with the likes of Carousel 1 models, this appears to be more a blend of Dragon and FM models as regards quality - it appears to lack the 'finishing touch' in my opinion.

Absolutly correct FVD,
If it really is a sell out then thats great news for the serious collector.

When a diecast company releases a new casting and it sells out it gives them confidence to invest in future models.
Great stuff all round I say.

hhhmmmm, maybe. We'll see when it gets here. And the price is lower, too (compared to C1).

I do think that pilot looks out of his element, that's for sure.

Ya know Cardo gets in to these moods every now and then where he likes to make some real jerky comment just to see what people are going to say. I don't get people like that at all....

Did I hear P-39 again?!!! Bring it on! And I just received my JEJ today from Aikens ($39 and they're sold out now too) after getting sucked in to the frenzy and it is awesome! Great job HM.

Yes, I am also all for an HM P-39 in this scale. Actually, the Aircobra is not my favourite aircraft ever, but I would surely get one since I mostly collect WWII fighters in 1:48 and it would fit wonderfully with my collection. I would nevertheless preffer a Typhoon or a Po-16, but the bottom line is that I do not really care anymore. HM has never dissapointed me and whatever they choose will look nice.

Anyway, going back to the Spitfire, they arrived this week in my local shop in The Netherlands and I went to see it today. It looks stunning and certainly a fine piece of 1:48 diecasting. I did not buy it because I am short of display space at home and if I get only one HM Spit, I would rather let that be the normal-wing, normal-canopy one ( more representative ) when they arrive later on. But I surely came close to buying it anyway... !!

Well done, HM.[/quote]

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

I hope they consider doing a P-39 in 1/48th

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.
