Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

Well hype or no hype looking at the photos i think this really is a must have, but I must have the full wing not the clipped version, and as for you Cardo , you are the scoundrel that got me into 1/48 scale so its all your fault! ( I got 6 of em now).

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

I'm holding out for the full wing too. I hope the wing tips aren't made from that petroleum based material that droops though!

Jim, I accept the accolade with due humility ... I could not have done it on my own and without the steadfast support of Elmer and PappyB, not to mention all those other enlightened individuals who've come to accept that 1/48 scale is indeed superior .

(I believe that ZS-VAN will be joining the 1/48 fold shortly ... .)

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

So they are not really sold out until the last one leaves the retailer's shelf right? And that is only in the US market.
It almost borders on hysteria, ..... It's here,...gotta buy....gotta buy....

I don't think it's a matter of hysteria at all. Here's the REAL calculus:

1) Some of us know of the superiority of 1/48, at least for WW II fighters.

2) The market is more oriented towards 1/72, and there just aren't that many 1/48 releases every year, so when one comes out, we're exited about it.

3) Spitfire XIV has never been done, by anyone, in any scale, in diecast.

4) HM has shown they can deliver quality at a reasonable price

5) Good choice of livery/subject (it IS Johnnie Johnson, after all).

So tell me, what's wrong with wanting to buy this one right away, assuming you are a 1/48 collector? I'm getting it now, and will get the second one as well (since they are quite different anyway in canopy and wing styles).

Can you imagine how cool it would be if they produced the silver FR.XIV's in Royal Belgian Air Force markings?

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

Well I just couldn't stand it any longer! I went and ordered the clipped wing even though I wanted to wait for the full wing. I'm just too concerned that the full wing's tips are plastic and droop from the photos I've seen.
