Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

If anyone is on the fence about this I wouldn't wait too long as OMI, Aikens, Flyingmule are already SOLD OUT and Petes is in short supply..

Wings & Wheels are sold out of these as well. Glad I got mine just in the nick of time....

Thumbs up Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

I picked my "JEJ" (#0077 of 1800) up today and I have to say it is REALLY nice, especially for the price.. Mine did have a few issues (broke in shipping from HM) but it was the last one that Onmark had and it isn't anything that can't be repaired..

To paraphrase Churchill:

Never in the field of diecast collecting has there been so much hype, by so many, about so little.

So, Cardo, still feel that way now?

Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

Very few diecast live up to the "Hype", and the Spitfire doesn't quite make it, but it is comparable to the Buffalo which was a lot of plane for the money and very nicely done..
IMHO, I don't think C1 or anyone else could've done a better job if they had done the Spitfire..

Cool Re: Where's the Spit!!!!

I think he meand ground figures. I second that motion, by the way. I hope HM could even look into separately selling sets of ground crew in 1/48. That would be most excellent.

Just an idea. After all, they do sell some of their tanks with ground figures.

FVD

FVD, I concur 100% with the need for crew figures in both 1:72 & 1:48. In fact, some time back I dropped a note to Hawk on this subject saying that the manufacturer doesn't need to be a Renassiance artist to create heads & upper bodies meant to be stuffed into a cockpit. Hell, I'd be happy to paint my own.

I agree, Cardo. You have a right to your opinion and that should be respected.

And, I see your point about the hype. I must admit, I am a bit ambivalent about JEJ and DW-D because of the issues pointed out in the cockpit and canopy areas. HM is developing a reputation for releasing models with issues, then fixing them later. Beyond this, I was in the minority of those a bit disappointed when the first pre-pro pictures came out, revealing no recessed cowling or panel fasteners.

I do not doubt JEJ is a beautiful model... the pictures on the web are flattering. But as Harry pointed out, "very few diecast live up to the hype."
