I agree - and if they did that I would have no probelms with the weathering. As I said in the other thread the one color wash in teh overblown pannel lines I find a real turn-off.

| Re: Suggested Panther/Cougar schemes (and presentation) I collect mostly 1/48 WWII aircraft ( plus some modern-day 1/72 jets ). I should hence not be buying the F9F, but I am so happy with ALL the HM models I have bought ( 6 in total ) that I know for sure that once I see it I will not be able to control myself and will buy one too. In any case, I already have a Spanish AF Sabre 1/48 from FM, so they should go well together. Excuse my ignorance, but does anybody know which countries operated these aeroplanes ? I seem to recall that in the Argentinian Navy they replaced their F4U Corsairs on board their Aircraft Carrier "25 de Mayo" and they themselves were replaced years later by the Skyhawk. But did any other country use them too ? | |||||||||||||

| Re: Suggested Panther/Cougar schemes (and presentation)
None that I know about, Argentina seems to be the only one. I'll likely get the opening livery because it looks great and I love that contrast between red and midnight blue. Still I'll also definately get a VF-192 Golden Dragons Bridges of Toko Ri livery. Now that would be a sure winner. Another possibility is the Marine Panther nose, John Glenn's Panther, and Neil Armstrong's bird. On a side note, my Airport Godfather, Colonel Jim Lawrence flew the TF-9 in trining before moving up to Training Command's single seat F-9. The Colonel recently allowed me to fly one of his company King Air 200s (8 hours logged SIC time) and let me set a personal groundspeed and altitude record of 353 KIAS (406 MPH) Groundspeed and FL250 (25k) Altitude. I have a DVD which he let me copy that show's ground shots of both the TF and F-9, it starts with Formation Aerobatics in T-2A Buckeyes, with John McCain leading the flight, before moving on to shots of the TF-9, F-9 and A-4 Skyhawk and O-1 Bird Dog in Vietnam. If HM were to come out with a F-9 in Training Command Colors, I'd definately buy the Colonel one. I already sprang for a Topping T-2A Buckeye which now has joined the model collection of airplanes he flew (A-4, F-8, A-7, A-10 plus numerous Airliner Types). I'm also happy to note that the Colonel has some diecast, including Dragon's McCampbell Hellcat Minsi II (Dave was a childhood hero of his), and a Model Power P-61 that I recently purchased for him (his neighbor as a kid flew Black Widows during the war.). It was a great pleasure to walk into the man's office, leave the T-2A there, and say...:"Hey Colonel, somebody left something on your desk." Skysurfer808
