I just voted yes because

A) I've witnessed a certain 1/48 Buffalo

B) Light and shadow

Re: Poll: Inked panel lines: Yes or No??

I like faint panel lines and the HM wash. I made the mistake of buying the Bush Predator TBF, and hated it. The colors were too bright and shiny (and there was a big black smudge on the belly, but that is another problem). It is a very unconvincing model. The pictures of the HM versions make that scheme look much more realistic.

Re: Poll: Inked panel lines: Yes or No??

Pretty darn close, just another 5 votes and no would have it 2 to 1.. I'd say that is pretty overwhelming.. Although I will admit that the "yes" contingent has more votes than I thought they would have..

5 votes? that means 5 people. or even 5 models. Now considering one scheme itself is say 1000 pieces, Its not a big enough sample size to represent the overall opinion. Considering the amount of votes in total so far, i'd expect 5 to 1 to consider an overwhelming number.

Well, so long as they can keep selling their stock, they're doing pretty good so far. They even redid the lines on the P-39/ But noones asking them to take it out completely.

Re: Poll: Inked panel lines: Yes or No??

I would just like to point out that inked panel lines doesn't necessarily mean BLACK panel lines. The best panel line is one that is subtly inked in a color slightly darker than the color of the panel. HM does this very well.

Flexibility is the key to airpower.
Indecision is therefore the key to Airpower.

It's there, man. I wrote B) in white to illustrate a point. Highlight it and viola.

Light and shadow.

In that case panel lines would show up dark on photos as well, and they don't. Overdone panel lines remind me of scale drawings, which is probably where the disase comes from.

Having said that, the latest Harvard from Hobby Master really looks like a step in the right direction.

Hi Duckman, welcome to the forum!

I disagree on the photographic point; I have noted many photos with panel lines evidenced due to light and shadow. Whether these lines need to be depicted in black or a lighter color is an important point to discuss. I think black is too dark; lighter grey would soften the effect.
