Re: Poll: Inked panel lines: Yes or No??

A qualified yes. If it is done properly, I like what it does for the model. However, it can be overdone.

I think the proper way to achieve this effect is through the technique modelers use called "pre-shading".

I don't like black panel lines and try to avoid models that have them.

Here's a link to the photo referred to in Timbo's earlier post. The inking has put me off a lot of HM models particularly the lighter coloured ones. The Suez Avenger was OK but this latest Harvard is superb in all respects.

Thumbs up Re: Poll: Inked panel lines: Yes or No??

I was forwarded an email from Hobbymaster that stated the reason for the inked panel lines is most collectors prefer their planes that way.. Kinda seems to me that it is the other way around, so I would like to know what everyone thinks..
Simple question, and only 2 options "Yes" or "No"

Hi a year ago i would have snapped up any Harvard going but knowing the b/down one was coming out i held back and now i'm the proud owner of a b/dHarvard. spledid model! but lets salute H/M for bringing the Harvard out in the first place

Re: Poll: Inked panel lines: Yes or No??

My preference is for no panel lines. In my view it would be nice if the panel lines could be subtly highlighted but this is not so in most cases. It is over done to the extent that it puts me off the model. I have the French Navy F6F for example and to the dark panel lines over the dark colour is still over exaggerated.

Re: Poll: Inked panel lines: Yes or No??

Maybe this is too "black and white" of a question so to speak. I actually do like subdued inked panel lines. Even though you may not really see the lines as such on an actual aircraft, they do somehow enhance the dimensionality of a model..Even pro scale plastic model builders use this technique. But the key word is "subdued", and I'm talking heavy on the light here. The problem is, most manufacturers haven't quite seemed to have grasped the concept yet.

So if it has to be a simple "yes" or "no", I'm going with "no"

I am with him!

Sorry everyone, major trouble with my internet provider. I have been off line nearly a week and had to endure the bungling attempts of the OFFSHORE help center.
Its a sign of the times I am afraid, you call your provider and what do you get?

A call center in India!!!
They downloaded some antispy wear onto my computor and that made a pigs ear out of the whole thing.
Its taken 6 days to get the system working again.
Meanwhile I have been undergoing serious withdrawal symptoms.
Plus I have not bought a new toy for a long time now.

That Halifax JP has in his collection really is a must have, I love that old bird, that reminds me were is my coffee Lorraine?

God Bless America.
