Should I send it back?

Just received via mail order Hobby Master's SNJ Guantanamo and A-10 Playtime. Overall I'm very pleased with the SNJ, although the panel lines are a bit overdone (as described in the forum). It's a keeper. My real concern is the A-10, which I have not yet removed from the box. There is a glue smudge on the side of the windscreen and it bugs me. I build models and the canopy/cockpit/pilot area is a stickler for me. It can make or break a model. So now I'm faced with the added time and expense to exchange the model or live with the flaw. BTW, I ordered the A-10 knowing I would have to straighten out the tailplane, so a mod is no big deal. Don't think I can fix the canopy though. And even if I exchange it chances are pretty good something else will be screwed up. Let me tell you, these QC problems have really curtailed my purchases of diecast. What do you guys think, grin and bear it or exchange it?

Re: Should I send it back?

If it was me I would return it, for another because the canopy thing would bother me.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Should I send it back?

I say exchange it MigMauler. I have around twenty HM planes and none of them have had any major QC issues like yours . My number one pet-peeve is QC and HM seems to be one of the better ones at that from my personal experience (knock on wood).

Good luck!

I think you should send it back if it bothers you. At least you're close enough to the action as opposed to me, half way around the would from any source of diecast. Go for it.

Re: Should I send it back?

Send it back...another popular brand had the same type of glue problem, and it was so common that anyone willing to buy their models could just about expect it. But HM has set a higher standard, and I think you should hold them to it.

Send it back, or at least try to call or email them. You might be suprised at what they will try to do to keep you as a satisfied customer.

Re: Should I send it back?

Return it! The sooner the better.

Always make sure that you contact the dealer before you return an item. Some of dealers require a RMA (Return Merchandise Authorization) be issued before before the item will be accepted.
