Probably because there are few things in life quite as satisfying as gazing at an under-detailed model that you just paid an over-inflated price for...and hey, those babies weigh a ton. Personally I collect both scales. Heck, I even have a couple if 1/144 sitting there as well. I like the diversity of size in my display cabinet. I have about a dozen 1:72 Mustangs and they look great surrounded by 1:48 and 1:35 models. Furthermore, I really can't wait for the 1:32 SBD to come out. But bottom line -- the Panther will look great.

used to have a load of FM 48 scale stuff but have been recently getting rid of them because I just don't display them any more due to space considerations.

Almost exclusively display 1/72 scale now.

Having said that - Panther is a nice size for 1/48 scale....

Might be pursuaded to part with my money when i see one in the flesh.
