Re: Preview: HA1701 Bell P-39N/Q Airacobra "Russian Ace"

True, but it is an American plane, and there are plenty of American aces that flew it, that would make a great early start. When I buy a Spitfire, I want mine to be in RAF markings, even thought the U.S> flew them as well.

LOL don't you know we let others fly our birds before us? You can count me out until a US version comes out. Or do we need the Liechenstein version first?

Re: Preview: HA1701 Bell P-39N/Q Airacobra "Russian Ace"

It will be interesting what Forces Of Valor's P-39 would look like in 1/32nd scale? I know their Spitfire, Mustang and Me 109 were major disappointments, but hopefully
they would've learned from that experience and that we'll see if some improvements were made for the P-39. Crossing me fingers.....

Yeah, I am wondering about that too. I hope it's a least decent. I'll probably buy it only if it is improved compared to their previous 1/32 releases.

I still hope C1 might do one in 1/48 some day...

PS: as far as the commentaries about getting airplanes first in the markings of the country of origin, I normally agree completely. However, in the case of the P-39, the US hated that plane while the Russians loved it, and they had far more aces (with many more kills) in that airplane than we ever did, not to mention their far wider use of the plane in combat, period. So I think HM's choice is VERY appropriate.

Up we go, into the Wild Blue Yonder...

Looks nice this P-39, but I am trying to collect only WWII 1:48 so I will make an effort and give it a miss. I trully hope someone makes it in 1:48 eventually. When that day comes, I will certainly buy mine with the colours of the Soviet Air Force. For this aircraft they are the most meaningful.

I'm going to have to get one of these! It will be the beginning of my Soviet Air Force stuff.

Maybe, but throw the boys of the Cactus Air Force (Guadalcanal) a freakin' bone already. They held with what they had, and deserve alittle something,

Soviet P-39 - snoozer. About as excited for this one as I am to get a second IXO P-38. I'm just not heads-over-heels in love with anything WWII Soviet. Just wasn't my interest as a kid and it sure isn't now. Glad those of you who want WWII Soviet aircraft are getting something you truly want. As for me, when the over-stock goes for $15.00 I'll think about it.

Now HobbyMaster's second P-39 - RIGHT ON!!!!!!! I'll be getting this one! I love early, 1941-1942 USAAF aircraft no matter how successful they were. They served during the darkest hours and I love underdogs.

I will be all over that one.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Should be plenty of nice schemes to be found on this book:

I'm a sucker for nice schemes/livery especially for the underdog machines!

On December 5, 1941 I turned eight and two days later, wll you know what happened. As a boy growing up during WW II
I developed of love of airplanes, especially American fighters, and I thought the P-39 was a great looking plane. Unfortunately, it never served the USAAF well and was lend-leased to the USSR where it did very well. I still like the bird and when HM releases it I'll be standing in line.
