It's like all models, if it is even going to be considered there has to be at least 6 - 8 paint schemes or variants. Any less and there just won't be any way for companies to recoup their cost let alone make a profit. So if you can come up with the required number of paint options I'll pass it on because it is an excellent looking plane. I dare you to cross that line in the sand.

| Re: What would like to see next from Hobby Master ? I'm staying out of this one....It is a big job to try to find 6 or 8 paint schemes for these kind of planes. After searching for the P-61 and A-10 schemes i could not come up with that many schemes other then different nose arts. JP | |||||||||||||

| Re: What would like to see next from Hobby Master ?
I gotta tell you Hawk that I disagree with that. Some very historic planes just did not have that many different schemes. Look at the P-61 and the SBD. I know where they are coming from, but if you are going to make diecast, they need to understand that the rule of 6-8 schemes is going to limit what they make. I do have to say that HM makes some of the best models out there, so I hope they don't stick with that.

| Re: What would like to see next from Hobby Master ? Not to be a wise a**, but doesn't HM have a research department? Sure I could look up 6-8 schemes for some of these, that doesn't mean it'll get done. - Shawn | |||||||||||||

| Re: What would like to see next from Hobby Master ?
Hawkonevoodoo and Hobby Master, Because I really want to have several of these aircraft in my model collection, here's my contribution to the P-61 paint option issue. I own a copy of the Osprey Combat Aircraft series title P-61 Black Widow Units of World War 2 by Warren Thompson, c1998, reprinted 2000. It's a 96 page large format paperback and it's available on Amazon.com. In the center there's a 3 page color spead of 37 nose art schemes including all of the ones mentioned and pictured here on Model Hangar in the lengthy P-61 poll/thread and many more. The nose-art section is followed by a ten page color spread of the side views of FORTY P-61s: eight are olive drab and 32 are black. A number of very colorful examples are depicted: with invasion stripes and without, with colorful 45 degree angle slashes on the tail booms, with white drop tanks, with bright colored prop hubs, etc, etc. There seems to be quite a few options available. The Air Force Museum's "Moonlight Serenade" is very cool looking as well as the colorful "Time's a Wastin'" and "The Spook" with the smiley face. As someone said in another thread, look at the Corgi Lancaster. How many different overall color schemes does it have? Mainly one: wartime (olive drab and green) with four other variants: Dambusters, pathfinder, air sea rescue and post war. http://www.tricatus.co.uk/lancaster172.htm Most of the Corgi Lancs just have different unit markings though on the basic camou theme. (Yes, I know there were many more Lancs produced than Black Widows.) With the P-61 you'd have the two main choices of olive drab and black as the overall colors with lots of very colorful nose art, unit markings and bright colors to liven up the purchase options. That's my two cents. I really hope Hobby Master decides to release some P-61s. I do understand though that they need to be able to show a profit from their investment in molds, etc. Dennis

| Re: What would like to see next from Hobby Master ? Regarding the MiG-29 paint schemes, there are quite a few to choose from: -Russian/Soviet in-service. There is evidence of at least 4 distinctly different and colorful paint schemes on in-service a/c. -Russian "Swifts" new paint scheme. The most recent Swifts livery is pretty cool imo. -The MiG-29 OVT demonstrator a/c. This is somewhat similar to the Swifts scheme, but with a giant red star on top. There is also a big Mikoyan logo on the underside.Very cool looking imo. -German, East German and reunification markings. -Iraqi, Desert Storm era. -Indian -Malaysian -Romania, Poland, Slovakia, etc. Anyway, there is a more that adequate variety of different liveries for this beautiful machine. Whether any of them will be considered production-worthy for a new mold, I guess someone brainier than myself will have to decide that. I'll take one of each... | |||||||||||||
