Thats why the detail is poor, they know we will all be rushing to buy them anyway, well most will but i wont be one of them, its just not good enough.

Jim,
As stated previously, I think we should all reserve judgment until we see the final product.. Who knows, you might be pleasantly surprised!!!

I also hope to be pleasantly surprised and will try and reserve judgement .

The overall shape and general look of the HM Spitfire is good . It's just that after seeing what EI (1/48) and GA (1/72) have done with the detailing on their respective models, I'm tending to hold other manufacturers to a higher standard than what is perhaps fair. (As long as they don't try and paint rivets on! .)

Re: Hobbymaster Mk XIV Spitfire (Now w/pics)!!!

Guys, by no means am I a Spitfire expert, but how much rivet detail would actually be present?

If I remember correctly, once the P-51 came off the assembly line weren't the rivets and what not filled in and sanded smooth? Would the Spit have gone through the same process??

I for one think this will be a great model. We tend to go overboard, myself included, in the detail aspect of this hobby. Much like our plastic brothers we tend to forget that we should be lucky to have such a large choice of manufacturers and models to choose from. On the other hand, considering how much some of these go for, they should be as accurate as reasonably possible.

Not trying to step on anyone's toes, but that's my 2 cents worth...

Here are some great links to get a better perspective look at the "rivet details" that Elmer is talking about. There are some nice close up shots that reveal such rivet details so I'll let the pictures
do the talking. You guys can form your own opinions. To be honest, I'm not really that put-off by the lack thereof of 'rivets' on these Spitfire pre-pros so I'll still make my purchase regardless when these diecasts finally becomes available.

Why not pad print them and solve the problem entirely? If they were cut details, we'd be complaining about how overdone they were. Ink a couple of dots in the right places and get a more realistic scale effect.

Re: Hobbymaster Mk XIV Spitfire (Now w/pics)!!!

Hoverbug,
Hey there.

That actually sounds plausible. Anyone who is closer to the "making-of" process have any insight as to how practical a solution this would be for folks? (Personally speaking, I'm starting to loathe Hobby Master. After all, if they keep making such AMAZING LOOKING planes I'm going to have to start buying 1:48 scale. Damn Hobby Master!!! )

That is a joke folks. Please take it as such

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Hobbymaster Mk XIV Spitfire (Now w/pics)!!!

A couple more schemes to add for the Mk XIV c/e variants I'd like to see:

Agent X20 file report.....

Marking will be the FR MK XIVe Johnnie Johnson in September 1945 Germany just after the war ...........the MK XIVc will be Sqn Ldr Newbury 1944 610 Sqn.. .

Presume you are talking the same machine then.....
