Re: Hobbymaster Mk XIV Spitfire (Now w/pics)!!!

Will I be the only one to despair no rivet detail on what appears to be otherwise fine pre-pros?

Re: Hobbymaster Mk XIV Spitfire (Now w/pics)!!!

But this is 1:48 scale! The potential for small detail is incredible; it seems to me a shame not to take advantage of that. I must re-iterate my concern that HM is going down the road of cutting production costs at a cost that isn't worth it for its 1:48 line. The larger riveting/bolts around the cowl and wing/fuselage join of the original can be nearly correctly scaled at 1:48. There is a terrific medium ground/spectrum for riveting at 1:48 that needs to be applied; it appears HM is choosing to skew its riveting detail to the left (none at all). GA's riveting detail on its 1:72 Spit is beautiful. Why shouldn't HM wish to make its model as beautiful? I submit my plea again to HM to give TLC to the details -- especially for this beautiful, iconic aircraft. I hope the mold isn't done and that HM will re-consider the mold for some riveting.

I fully agree with you on this Elmer . I've been looking really forward to this particular Spitfire and had high hopes that it might rival the detail of the EI 1/48 or GA 1/72 aircraft.

No rivets = (possibly) no sale as far as I'm concerned . (There is no excuse to make a 1/48 scale aircraft with less detail than its 1/72 equivalent - GA has set the current standard.)

Since both of these are still in it's 'pre-pros' stage, I'll reserve judgement and avoid "jumping the gun" till the final end-product is finally presented.

Rivets (or lack of) won't keep me from buying this although the screw fasteners on the removable engine cowl panels should be present because honestly, just like panel lines, you wouldn't see rivets at this scale..

Re: Hobbymaster Mk XIV Spitfire (Now w/pics)!!!

Rumor has it that there might be a Johnnie Johnson in the works..

It's no rumor, it's fact. Unless they pull a last minute switch.

It's supposed to be metal.

Thanks for confirming H1... I was pretty sure, but I didn't want to call it if it weren't true..
