A-4B Skyhawk Tawk

I have the HM "Gladiators" A-4B and I REALLY like it. I had been wishing for the Skyhawk to be produced ever since I started collecting over 10 years ago. I think HM did a great job on it and I look forward to obtaining more versions. My only concern is if the flat finish is accurate for the gray top and white underside. I thought the finish should be semi-gloss or gloss.

Re: A-4B Skyhawk Tawk

Yes, I agree - particularly like the FAA A-4P Falklands bomber. Only slight niggle I have is that the bomb can't be installed when the plane is on the stand (pity HM couldn't take a leaf from Corgi's excellent stand for the Hawk trainer, which allows a space for centre-line armament). Re the USN A-4B, I wonder as to the accuracy of the 'all-white' paint scheme for the optional Bullpup air-to-ground missiles - any references as to how this ordnance should actually look like? And did the A-4B actually use such advanced armament?

I especially appreciate the 'heft' to the A-4P model, along with the opening canopy and detailed instrument panel. The excellent review on www.hobbymastercollector.com convinced me to go for this version, to match the Corgi GR-3 I bought some years ago.
Now if only HM could bring out an RNZAF A-4K, especially the updated version with Mavericks and Sidewinders...

According to Wikipedia:
A-4B
  • A4D-2 (A-4B): Strengthened aircraft and added air-to-air refueling capabilities, improved navigation and flight control systems, provision for AGM-12 Bullpup missile, 542 built.
Wikipedia also notes the Bullpup went into service in 1959. Here's a photo:

I think you're correct about the glossiness of the paint, and let me repeat that the Argentine A-4 has only one error that distracts from the model, and that is the Argentine national flag on the tailfin, with a bunch of "blue pixels" instead of a yellow sun. The rest is AFAIK spot-on. Too bad the real one lost its original look (telling from more recent photos on A.net)

Re: A-4B Skyhawk Tawk

Now that HM has six Skyhawks released or announced, which of all the liveries and models do you prefer? If you could pick just one more livery, which would it be?

I have only seen pics (not the real thing yet), but I like the looks of the Gladiator most (but I am not sure if I like a flat finish); the livery I hope for is Blue Angels.

I have the "Gladiators" and don't mind the flat finish since it is weathered. I too am wishing for a "Blue Angels".

Corgi is to make the scooter in the "Blue Angels" scheme...

Don't you think an Argentinian Navy's Skyhawk would be a good idea too...?
