Re: MkXIVe JJ Spit -- 1:48 First impressions

Thanks for the pics and the airplane really looks very good! I don't care for the size of the pilot so that don't bother me at all. I can't wait to get this one and the other variant soon.

Re: MkXIVe JJ Spit -- 1:48 First impressions

Thanks for the review & pics Pappy I am looking forward to this release, I notice the mirror is unpainted which I hope will be picked up before release & mine will be displayed sans pilot if that is the finished article.

This is a final retail sample so what you get should be exactly the same -- any fixes will likely happen on subsequent re-paint releases of the mold, per HM's standard proceedure. Only difference between the one I have here and what will hit shelves in late Nov/early December is the inclusion of a numbered LE cert card. Luckily, the mirror issue should be any fix for those that like to do that sort of thing

Thanks for the pics Pappy! Like fly, I can't wait for this one and the Mk. IXIVc. Regarding the release date, if HM released this on September 20 (Hong Kong), shouldn't it arrive stateside closer to early - mid November? It seems that has roughly been their schedule in the past.

Regarding the little pilot, maybe a little pillow will prop him up on the seat so he can see over the instrument panel! Might help him look more to scale, possibly?

Pappy, will you post this one on diecastace in the near future?

Those ship dates are just an estimate based on what the current online preorder sites are saying... Hawk would probably have a better idea of if it will hit sooner, seems like mid-Nov should be possible, don't know, sorry.

I'll get on that sewing challenge pronto... not I'll just leave the little fella out altogether.

(Note: the inflight display stand's main support arm is metal, which should eliminate that classic HM "wobble" effect, too, forgot to mention that. And the unfortunate side effect of the way the sliding canopy is modelled is that you get a somewhat ugly slot in the rear of the cockpit behind the armor plating and a clear plastic tab extending from the canopy roof into the slot, which allows it to slide. Tabs on the bottom of the front sides of the sliding canopy then hold it in place. I would have thought the same effect could have been accomplished with just the tabs, a la Dragon.)

As I said below, I will try to get the proper pics done this weekend and post them on diecastace as soon as they are ready -- patience grasshopper

Re: MkXIVe JJ Spit -- 1:48 First impressions

Thanks for the heads up Pappy. Looking forward to more shots when you get a chance. Does anyone know of the combat record (if any) of this aircraft? The earlier razor back DW-D appeals to me more as it does not appear so 'modern'. Both will be be in my collection soon. I/48 here I come!!

DOH! Should have read that first time! I was just so excited to get straight to the pictures! Thanks, Pappy. I'll be patient.
