I agree. I wanted to read more rambling (especially about the concealment of the screw heads). Seriously, thanks Pappy, I love long reviews, I have written a few myself; I find detailed written reviews most helpful--and yours always are.

Is the prop metal??? Wait... I think Hawk answered this one. Didn't he? I can't remember.

Yes it is metal

Re: MkXIVe JJ Spit -- 1:48 First impressions

Some very quick, and not-so-great pics I snapped with a not-so-great point-and-shoot camera just to slap something up (flash wouldn't fire consistently for some reason -- battery probably) -- will do proper ones this weekend:

The first ones show the pilot issues: HM pilot on the left, C1 pilot on the right (black flight suit)...

I have got to say that it is one sexy airplane.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: MkXIVe JJ Spit -- 1:48 First impressions

Just got an update from HM about my model -- while it is a final retail sample it was fresh off the assembly line and the LE cards weren't printed yet when they sent it. So the retail versions that hit shelves will have LE certs in them, which I think is a great thing for HM to start doing.

That is very cool. It is also cool that you have that early production model.

Thanks for the review & pics Pappy I am looking forward to this release, I notice the mirror is unpainted which I hope will be picked up before release & mine will be displayed sans pilot if that is the finished article.

Re: MkXIVe JJ Spit -- 1:48 First impressions

I am at work right now looking at your photos and the plane looks great but I actually laughed out loud (raising the eyebrows of a few co-workers) when I saw that poor dwarf sitting in the cockpit. HM has to be kidding with this pilot figure.

Re: MkXIVe JJ Spit -- 1:48 First impressions

That is a nice model, too bad they will not offer it in 1/72.
I suppose we have to make do with Mk V's and Mk 1X's, with the odd Mk 1 thrown in.
Any later Mk's out there?
