Re: The Best Overall Stuka

My first place choice for best overall Stuka would have to be a split between Corgi AA32502 Ju 87R-2 and AA32504 Ju 87B-2.

I have these two as well and like them very much. It's a toss up but the snake version wins out with this other one in a close 2nd.

Re: The Best Overall Stuka

Corgi Acroma Libya best one followed by dark green Immelmann and desert camo immelmann .I don't dig big snakes ,eagles, bats, and dragons on my war machines.
HM nice although Rudel version (one I wanted most) canopy done wrong Have desert camo version love it
Dragon loose parts big turn off saggy prop some good cockpit detail wobbly gear thin wheel spats

Buy a Corgi in any livery.

Re: The Best Overall Stuka

This is easy. For me it's the Corgi Snake Stuka AA32502.
No other stuka modell can compare to that. Fantastic camouflage

Re: The Best Overall Stuka

Review:

Corgi AA32502 Junkers Ju 87R-2/Trop Stuka, 6./STG 2, Tmimi/Libya, July 1941
Corgi AA32504 Junkers Ju 87B-2/Trop Stuka, III./STG III, Acroma/Libya, November 1941

Thanks to Harry, CC, and others in this thread, I decided to re-evaluate my perception of Corgi's Stukas and try a couple out. Perry Aircraft Hobbies still had these in stock at a reasonable price, so I pulled the trigger. I am glad I did. These Stukas are like eye-candy.

Fit:
My models (especially AA52502) appear to have even better fit at join lines than those Tricatus photographed for his site. I can see join lines running the length of the tail behind the wings, but they are not glaring at all, no gaps. The canopy join to the fuselage is not as tight as Hobby Master's Stuka. I was concerned that the engine covers would have glaring gaps at the joins (especially because these are removable to view the engine detail), but alas, these covers fit better and tighter than any model I own with removable engine covers. Overall, fit is excellent (still not quite to the high bar of the Hobby Master Stuka, but close). No assembly of parts required.

Detail:
As mentioned, engine covers are removable to view the engine. While this doesn't tickle my fancy a lot, the recessed intakes on top do. These are delicately crafted openings, as they should be... you can actually see into the engine through these tiny openings. AWESOME. The small intake on the starboard side of the nose is recessed (unlike Hobby Master's which is not). The chin scoop is nicely recessed with what appears to be a separately molded grill piece inside which is viewable for and aft. The props freely spin and the main wheels freely rotate (although the wheels are hard plastic, unlike Hobby Master's which is preferable rubber). The panel lines are some of the best I have seen on a Corgi model, at least an equal with Hobby Master's Stuka. The crew looks like little human beings in there; they are absolutely HUMAN LIKE and AWESOME! Way to go Corgi! Corgi makes some of the best figures I have seen in models, I can't say enough about the quality these lend to these models. Even from a distance they look real like.

Finish:
What can I say. Jump over to Tricatus's site and see for yourself. The finish on both of these models is first class -- absolutely the best, professionally done, almost flawless. The liveries are stunning. And hey!... there are swazis pad printed on the tail (unlike the HM first releases ). Pad printed graphics are top notch.

Anything wrong with these? Not really. I agree with those who rate Corgi's best. Given overall fit, detail, and finish I think Corgi nudges out Hobby Master. This is saying something for me because the HM Stuka is my favorite model from HM. Yes, these Corgi models are that good. Better pick 'em up from Perry's while they are still available and reasonably priced!

Thanks Harry, CC, and others who helped me see the light!

Mine are 3177 of 5500 and 353 of 5000.

Elmer, Glad to hear you are pleased with your Corgi Stukas and I recommend picking up more if you can.. I have many more Corgi Stukas that are well made and I can recommend them also.. One Stuka you can find really cheap right now is the #AA32510 Tmimi-Cyrenica Stuka and this is also one of my favorites..

Re: The Best Overall Stuka

Thanks, Harry. Yeah... I like that one too. I also have my eye on the new Flying Mule commission.

It is amazing how a thread can start out as one thing and end an entirely different topic. I'm with you, take all the non Hobby Master related posts and move them somewhere more appropriate and get the thread back on track.

My fault Hawk1. I asked who made the best Stuka thinking that HM was and it appears that some disagree. I should have posted this thread in a different location but where?
