Oh my god

I just opened my just arrived shipment of planes bought off Ebay, got here in under 4 days. Paid under $32.00 for the Buffalo's.

Hobby Masters Buffalo, are too good to describe. I read a review on here somewhere and the only complaints were the engine and antenna detail which to me looks just fine.

When you factor in the price, these are unbelievable planes. The detail, fit and finish, paint, markings, cockpit and on and on are superb.

Franklin Mint had better hope HM does not get into 1/48 whole hog or they are going to be in big trouble. There prices are way too high and there detail is crap compared to these little babies.

Oh yea the Skyhawk was cool too.

It was probably my review. My quibbles were engine detail, painted on wing gun ports, and an exposed screwhead (I also suggested photo-etched antannaes would be a nice touch). My point is that the engine could have been painted with a wash applied to bring out cylinder detail. It would have added even more to a terrific model. There definitely is a WOW factor to this model, but when I look in the cowling I go "oh". No WOW factor there for me. Same with the painted on wing gun ports. And, I make no apology here, no company will bring a model into the leagues of FM and C1 until they are committed to concealing 1:1 screwheads that have NOTHING to do with 1:48 scale.

I agree with you 100% about fit, paint, markings, cockpit; they are superb. Small details like painted on wing guns (that should be recessed) and exposed screwhead... well... not so superb.

Re: Oh my god

I gotta tell you, it could be a little better if they did the things you said, but probably not for $32.00 , If FM did this model and made the tail move and the canopy open and the gear retract they would want over $100.00 for it.

I also gotta tell you, the FM's I used to have were hit and miss with lots of gaps, so so paint, not moving parts at all, and usually two big holes where they were screwed into the box.

I got three left of the FM, and if I had the boxes I would sell them, so as I said in my opinion and especially for the under 35.00 price this is a Gem of an airplane replica.
