Re: HobbyMaster Brewster Buffalo

I just go the same one and the landing gear assembly is very interesting. What a wonderful idea to have a metal price attach that way so you can apply some pressure to get it into place. They even provide a little tool to help. What a nice piece.

Re: HobbyMaster Brewster Buffalo

In addition to the Netherlands Buffalo, it looks like there is a chance for two more this year. Just saw updated list which shows two Lexington Buffalos.

Hawk...

Regarding HA7005 and HA7006, do you know if these will be released with metal props, plug for the screwhead, and pilots?

Re: HobbyMaster Brewster Buffalo

My Hobby Master Buffalo just arrived ( RNZAF version operating in Malaya circa 1941 ) and it rivals Carousel's FW-190D as the best 1:48 scale diecast airplane replica that I have seen.

Mine just arrived in the mail today and I couldn't be more happier with this one.

I picked up one of the RNZAF a few months back and I was really happy with the quality of the kit too. One thing was missing though, an opponent. I went and ordered a Marushin Oscar to sit next to the Buffalo. Looks cool and talk about a contrast in plane designs. I have the Netherlands and two Lexington's preordered already. HM did an impressive job on their Buffalos models.

Yes, yes and yes is what I was told.

Hawk, thank you for keeping us informed on the latest updates. By any chance do you have knowledge as to whether the Lexington Buffalos will be the end of Buffalo series, or might there be some more coming down the pipe? I would like to see one in the markings of Captain William C. Humberd of VMF-221 from Battle of Midway. Nice to have a model of a Buffalo that actually had an American at the controls bringing down a plane (He was awarded Navy Cross for this action). Still hoping for Buffalo in Finnish markings possibly being in the works. Earlier you had mentioned some differences between the F2A-1 and F2A-2 and I pretty much found that most differences associated with cowling and area immediately behind cowling as seen in diagrams below. (Diagram out of Squadron Publication number 81 F2A Buffalo in action.)

Fortunately cowling looks to be separate mold as well as spinner, but flip side would be relocation of exhaust stacks and reduction in gas vents. Still hold out for Buffalo in Finnish markings.

The Carousel 1 AVG P-40B would also make a great companion to the RNZAF Buffalo as depicted by Stan Stokes painting below.

That would make for a nice display. I have yet to purchase any planes off of the Carousel line, may just be what I need to rationalize another purchase. Seriously though, you make a good point about them making good looking stable mates.

Re: HobbyMaster Brewster Buffalo

HA7005 and HA7006 Limited Edition Brewster F2A-2 will be the last of this variant. Hobby Master is going to make a new Brewster but they haven't decided for sure which of 2 variants it will be. So if you haven't got an F2A-2 your running out of time. The first release HA7001 with the pre-war yellow wings sold out in 2 weeks and there weren't enough to go around and some countries never received any at all. This happened and the production was greater than 1000 pieces.
