Re: Hobby Master Latest Planes Are Out

How many versions will they be able to make to recoup their cost, how many of each version will they need to make so they don't over produce, how many to make so they can keep the retail price reasonable, how many people will buy more than one? In

I know that I'd love an olive drab P-61. But the gloss black paint is the quintessential P-61 color scheme. I can see myself buying two - an olive drab and a black version. But that would really be my limit. Cost and space alone are limiting issues here. Hope Hobby Master does take the chance and make this exciting model, but I'd understand if they played it safe and didn't. They are in business to make money.

IMHO the P-61 is a guaranteed hit. Yes, there aren't as many liveries as a P-51 or Me-109, but the P-61 is something new, has a lot of "presence" (it will be pretty large and just looks ultra-cool in black particularly), and is a long-time aviation enthusiast favorite. Everyone who collect WW II planes will want at least one or two. I'd even get one or two (one black, one OD) even though I'm still hoping EI will some day do one in 1/48 (probably a few years away from that...).

Now, I know nothing's 100% sure in this world, but HM, please make the P-61, I don't think you're taking much of a chance with that one.

FVD’s absolutely right. If there’s any plane I’d buy, it’s the P-61. And how! In fact, no matter how many color schemes and insignia HM produces, I’ll buy ‘em. You can't get much cooler than this bee-you-tee-ful warbird.

Re: Hobby Master Latest Planes Are Out

Well geez....I thought they had already said they would make it as one of the last planes of the year..
Now it's up in the air ??
Well i guess all we can do is just wait and see what they do..
I was planning on buying 5 or 6 of them for pilots i know that flew them during the war.

Re: Hobby Master Latest Planes Are Out

That's plenty Starman! As stated in a previous thread I'd buy at least one of these in black. OD would also be an option. Like FVD said, every WWII collector out there would want one.

I thought the same thing about Corgi's Catalina, but I still haven't picked up one of those yet. I still think most people wouldn't know the difference betweeen a Black Widow and a Carvair. That said, I hope the P-61 gets made if for no other reason than to stop your guys' moaning. I'll take a black one.

See, that's the difference between those of us who collect diecast aircraft because we love airplanes, their history, and technology (all of us would know a P-61, and all of us would buy one or two at least), versus those who just collect "things" that happen to have wings on them (and probably keep them in the box for future resale once they get bored with them).

Not that there is anything wrong with that second form of collecting. But I'm one of the first kind, and it's obvious many others on the forum are as well.

Re: Hobby Master Latest Planes Are Out

Even though E.I. said that they are going to do a 1/48th P-61 and A-26, I would still buy at least two of the HM P-61's. The two I would love to see are the lady in the Dark, and the one in the NMUSAF named Moonlight Seranade.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Thumbs up Re: Hobby Master Latest Planes Are Out

Hawk, I'll take two. After seeing the real thing, in black, at the Udvar-Hazy Center it's a must have in my opinion I saw the Dornier DO-335 there and I was a happy man when IXO brought out a model. Which, BTW, is a decent product and I'm glad I have one in my hanger.
