Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

Hawk1,
Please don't get frustrated with us - WE NEED YOU! Your efforts are MUCH appreciated! I may have gotten carried away with this subject because I have waited sooooo loooooong for a decent Airacobra. I am extremely excited that HM will be taking on this project because when you consider quality, accuracy, detail, variety, and price - nobody does it better! But...in an unrelated subject...KEEP THE METAL IN DIECAST please! Sorry...I lost my head.

Thumbs up Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

Devastating Devil will get a new paint job on the upper half and it will look great. It's not all green or all grey but these will come. Pokryshkin is what I think an excellent choice because most people want some more Russian planes. These are only the first two and already you guys are complaining because they don't suit your taste but there are others that just might appreciate these. Sometimes I think what they have to do is release about 20 at a time all with different paint schemes and I bet some guys still would have a problem. I have no problem with guys suggesting paint schemes or pilots, at least these are constructive but I'm really getting P'd at all the whining because they didn't read your mind and make the scheme that you wanted first. Sometimes I wonder why the H I even bother doing this.

Way to go Hawk. It's truely amazin' how childish some of the comments are, how unrealistic their expectations. [They know who they are.] That said, please don't abandon the mature users of this great website.

Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

The best trick I think is to pass on info to Hawk ( with a please and thank you ) with the hope that HM will do something with it. Ultimately its thier decision, not his or ours. And yeah I've been critical of HM, but not of Hawkonevoodoo. You get more with sugar than . Now where is that Atlantic Avenger!! LOL

Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

Hey Hawk,

You are truly a great asset for us. You listen patiently and pass on our comments. You really do make this hobby a better one. Don't feel that what you are doing isn't valuable, important or appreciated. As a fellow collector, I never want to critize you. Still my problems are with HobbyMaster and some of the choices they make when picking out schemes. If this causes you problems, then I sincerely and humbly apologize and I'll stop posting. As to this plane, I can understand a Russian P-39 - there have been lots of posts over the years from collectors who want these planes. I'm just not one of them, but I'm happy for those of you who are. But Devastating Devil as your first choice for an American bird? C'mon guys let's get serious here - who if asked what scheme they really would be dying to buy would have strongly advocated for this one? I know manufacturers want to save their best schemes for later on, but I think this is a business trend that really needs to be changed. With funds being hard to come by and this business getting extremely competitive, can you really count on a segment of your customers "waiting" until you give them what they want. Not everyone wants to or can afford to buy everything you put out. And just because you think some "wacky" scheme might be interesting, don't be surprised if some of your customers don't agree with you and in turn spend their money somewhere else.

Doing what you want is freedom; doing what you like is happiness.

Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

Well....what if they had the best scheme first and they screw up the first model?
I agree that the best scheme should go with the best mould after all the little errors are straigtened out. So its probably worth the wait. But anyway, it sure looks different than the usual P-39 schemes.

Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

Personally, I think the sand-coloured P-39 looks quite good, although the panels lines are a bit dark. I just wish this had been a P-39 that had actually made it to North Africe so it could join my MTO/Desert collection. Hopefully one from the MTO will be done eventually.

Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

I'm with Spinnaker -- I quite like the sand-colored Devastating Devil (especially if HM fixes the wash). There's plenty of green in my collection already. There's something for everybody and I'm sure HM will make with green P-39s post haste.

Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

Good looking photos from 10/21/2007. Looks like the '39 will be a great model, and fun to collect. Happily, they are producing the Russian version first...I can add it to Corgi's Russian Spit effort and have the beginnings of a WWII red-star airforce!

What about Bud Anderson's first Old Crow

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I agree with you on both counts. The sand color is a big improvement over the pink, but I, too, would like HM to tone down---but not eliminate---its washes.
