Zinc Chromate and Interior green are different colors. The Interior green was the darker color.

Thanks hawk1 ! I just hope that prepro was made out of clay and the molds are not set yet. Not that it is that bad but HM has done and can do better I think. Are you getting more positive or negative feedback on this one?

Negative.

Like the looks of the Soviet version, but can only rate the US version as lukewar.

Lukewar....Mmmmmm...... does that have anything to do with Luke Skywalker in his war the the Dark Side?

I'm looking forward to both versions and have them pre-ordered. If the final production versions are tweaked based on forum feedback, so much the better!

I am no expert on the P-39, but I like what I see so far. I hope we don't annoy HM too much with our historical finickiness.

It's only constructive criticism. I should think they would welcome it to make their product the best it can be. I like the model as is also.

And it is only taken as constructive criticism and much appreciated. This is how this are things are found and improvements made. There are a lot of eyes on here and a lot of knowledge so even if Hobby Master looks and looks and looks there will be one or many that notice something amiss. Every comment is appreciated when it is meant to help improve the models and in turn help the hobby.

Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

You're a good egg, Hawk.

I can't imagine trying to figure out how to balance a diecast model with tricycle landing gear like the P-39. The model is already made of zinc. It seems to me that the choices would be to move the landing gear back, stuff the very small nose with lead, or make the tail section out of plastic.

Re: New P-39 Photos on HawkOneVoodoo's website

I just learned from Hobby Master that after listening to your comments they are going to improve the models as much as possible within a reasonable cost factor. The P-39s HA1701 and HA1702 would receive a re-paint of the undercarriage and wheel wells. Unfortunately since the air scoop is cast as part of the fuselage it won’t be changed since it would require an entirely new casting at a tremendous cost. The HA1702 Devastating Devil will receive a complete new upper paint finish with a color correction. I have been assured that any gaps will not be present in the retail version and a few other alterations will be made to the finished product. They hope you will find this action acceptable and they regret any delays this may cause but are confident that you will understand that this will provide you the collector with a much nicer model. I’m thinking of giving Hobby Master their own personal slogan, “We listen to you”.
