Re: New Aussie A-4 coming

I'm still hoping for an HM Blue Angel Skyhawk.

even though Corgi has a Blue Angels Skyhawk. I'd prefer a Hobby Master one over the Corgi. I have a Armour Yellow Blue Angels flight helmet that would go perfect with it.

I'm with you, I have no confidence that Corgi will get it right.

Give it a little time. Hobby Master seems to do a fair portion of their birds in "special" schemes and the Blue Angels are a logical and popular choice.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: New Aussie A-4 coming

I thought i'd add some details around the history of this particular A-4G that Hobbymaster chose for their subject:

Formerly A-4G N13-154903 with the Royal Australian Navy, coded 882. First flight from Douglas factory at Long Beach on 19 July 1967. BOC with RAN on 31 July 1967 and served with No.805 and No.724 Squadrons. Withdrawn from RAN service on 30 June 1983 and stored for sale. Ferried from Nowra to Ohakea (New Zealand) on 20 July 1984. Converted to A-4K by RNZAF. To No.2 Squadron, Ohakea. Damaged in mid-air collision with NZ6210 during Kiwi Red practice on 24 October 1989. Repaired and returned to service on 17 November 1990. Served with No.2 Squadron, Nowra 2001. Crashed near Nowra, NSW on 16 February 2001 while conducting practice of plugged barrel roll with NZ6213 (a TA-4K) hooked up. The aircraft flew into thick bush and exploded. Squadron Leader Murray Neilson, the Commanding Officer of No.2 Squadron was killed instantly and the aircraft written off.

This is a photo taken of NZ6211 at Nowra, courtesy of Martin Edwards.

Like Freefall kiwi i'd love to see HM produce a Kiwi A-4K or better still a TA-4K

Re: New Aussie A-4 coming

Here's what I have on my site about this plane.
Hobby Master 1/72 scale Air Power Series Jet Powered HA1405 Royal Australian Navy A-4G "885"/N13-154906, VF-805 Checkmates
As most of you know I try to add history and a story with each and every model Hobby Master makes. If you are looking for some background on a model, just locate the model on my site, 9 times out of 10 it will be there.

I prefer the BBI 1/6 scale Blue Angel helmet than the Armour one, more accurately made and very detailed down to the gold tinted visor.

Where can I find a BBI helmet? Do they make other helmets? I'd like to find an Army SPH-4 or 5.

Re: New Aussie A-4 coming

Help! I started to assemble the Aussie A-4 wheels down, and realized there were no gear struts and wheels--just the wheel well covers and ammo load. Does anyone know how they send the struts and wheels? Are they in a separate bag?
