Re: to wash or not to wash and pilots

They seem to be damned if they do and damned if they don't.

From my experience this is pretty standard human behavior. I hit it every day in my job. I for one am glad that HM are trying this experiment. You will also only hear from the people that don't like something as the ones that do are happy and not prone to comment.

If it doesn't work out then things will be back the way the started, if the planes stay un-washed then people could always apply a wash to suit their own needs.

A forum idea just popped into my head - maybe some of the more skilled modelers could create some modeling masterclass articles on stuff like painting techniques and post on the forum. Not sure if that exists already, but I haven't noticed it.

Ooops!

I'm glad they're trying different things to please the most of their customer base -- they are truly one of the most responsive vendors we've seen in terms of listening to feedback.

(I have heard they are seriously considering a P-51D in 1:48, too, for example, which woudl please a lot the 1:48 collectors on this forum... )

And just think, if hobby master does go back to the wash there will be a made scramble to snap up the unwashed models for collecting value

This is a brilliant idea! It only takes one forum member to carry it out and take it up to a notch or two to the next level.

I don't doubt we're in short supply of talented hobbyists/collectors in the know on this forum.

Re: to wash or not to wash and pilots

I'll cast my vote for keeping the wash.

I really want a 1/72 mirage, so I will probably still buy one of the first two releases, but I will hold off on buying any more until it is decided if the wash will be reinstated. I'm very glad to hear they will still be doing weathering and exhaust effects.

Re: to wash or not to wash and pilots

I just want to say thanks to Hobby Master for trying out new things to see what works and what doesn't, instead of sticking to the same thing. I'm still no pilots in my planes, but I also understand that I'm in the minority. I SINCERELY appreciate that Hobby Master is going to the effort to make the upcoming pilots optional.

I also wanted to take one more opportunity to thanks Hankonevoodoo for keeping us up to date and being our intermediary.

Re: to wash or not to wash and pilots

I guess I'm one of those who still likes and still wants the wash. I decided on the HM Bush Avenger over the Corgi Yamato Sinking version just based on the weathering. I can't stand the look of perfection on the Corgi Bush Avenger.

I very heartily second djjeffhall on both points!

Re: to wash or not to wash and pilots

Make darn sure, sonny, that you wash behind your ears, under your arms, and pay particular attention to the crotch area when you wash. That should resolve the wash issue.

Re: to wash or not to wash and pilots

HM - please keep that WASH!!! This is what distinguishes you from the crowd. Just compare the Corgi Bush Avenger (Preditor range) and the HM release.... No comparison at all, the HM is far more realistic. IMHO all that is needed is to reduce the amount of wash used. I understand that this might be more labour intensive, but the end result would be outstanding.

As for the pilots, bring them on....

HM, please please keep that wash!!
