Re: Please make this F-4!

Thats the one!

Anyway, back to the Topic, any really colourful birds we can have with this mould? seeing that we can't have that VMF-451 anymore...unless they make a F-4S. Though I noticed that Tamiya kit also does what looks like Cunningham's bird as well in the same kit. So I'm still hoping for that VMF-451 scheme

Re: Please make this F-4!

Sorry, I misinterpretted some of the threads. Well, if HM can make a J, VMF-451 Warlords would be first on my list in that 200yr scheme!

Re: Please make this F-4!

There's a decent selection of colorful J's:

Marines: VMFA-232, VMFA-333, (hey, the same options as the F-8E...)

Navy: VF-96 (being done), VF-84 (Jolly Rogers=sales) I'll have to check for others---I know the F-4B and N much better (the REAL Navy Phantoms, IMHO)

PS--Smart D, those are both F-4S's. Though maybe some J's wore similar schemes prior to conversion.

Well bugger that, how do we get what we want. CW can't give us the Crusaders we want now we can't get all the Phantoms?

Good thing I'm not picky.

Re: Please make this F-4!

They keep picking the "wrong" variant to model. IMHO. I've asked for a "not the E" F-8 for years, both plastic and diecast. And "early Naval" F-4's. There's plastic F-4B/N/S, but not in diecast.

Anyways---here's some nice J's:

(lacking DECM on the intakes, but the mold should accomodate that as most J's have them but no C/D/E does)

(Bicentennial schemes are guaranteed to be colorful--and that's not even the CAG!)

Both very excellent colours. Sure to sell Brazilions! Even if they had 2 versions of that VMF-451, I'd get em both.

Re: Please make this F-4!

It really scares me to think how many Phantoms I will be forced to get if this F-4 model is put together as well as CW's Tomcats and Intruders are!!! Oh this is bad...this is really bad.

Re: Please make this F-4!

Yes, but unlike B to N, the J to S conversion is pretty extensive. You'd need entirely new wings to do it, to start with.

Well, since the F-4S was the result of upgrading existing F-4Js, you only need additional leading edge slats which is pretty much the only noticeable upgrade in my eyes anyway, and it shouldn't require an entirely new wings, imho.

Re: Please make this F-4!

S comes from J, not B. The slats add numerous large hinges for the slats under the wing, plus a large fence on top of the wing at the hinge , plus new wingtips. That requires pretty much an entirely new wing mold, unless the mold was designed to accomodate S parts to start with, which it likely wasn't.

Then there's all the extra structural reinforcements on the wings and belly etc, which are a key identifying feature of the S. And the formation lights---which while they could be merely painted on, really should be molded/engraved.
