Smile Re: Hobby Master Mirage 2000c

I'm definitely for the standard scheme and may also get the desert camo scheme because it is different, and it looks cool. Much like the desert Typhoon.

Re: Hobby Master Mirage 2000c

As far as I remember, the ENTIRE first squadron of Mirages 2000C (12 planes) deployed in Kuwait, had been painted in the desert sheme.

But, I am afraid there is a mistake on the "Bleu DA" (Air Defence Blue) aircraft : the underside is light blue, it should be aluminium....

I think you will find the underside will be grey on the final version. I believe it is the lighting that is giving it a bluish tint.

Most were blue and they were deployed to Saudi Arabia. There was also more than 12 planes, remember they were deployed during Desert Shield (3 October 1990) through to Desert Storm. Some planes may have gone unservicable or gone home and replaced by others, I have serial numbers of at least 17 airframes that were deployed at some stage, but yes, the squadron was based around 12 planes.

Your link is to a photo taken in 2006, the model is from 1991, however, I have a great shot of the underside of a blue/grey Mirage 2000C taken over Saudi Arabia in 1991 and it is grey (gloss).

One should always check informations before making a statement...

Re: Hobby Master Mirage 2000c

I just saw some pictures of the HM Mirage 2000s (both versions) on the Diecast Direct website, and I must say I'm ambivalent about it. Overall it looks real good, but the radome has panel lines on it that should definitely not be there, and that disturbs me. I hope these are pre-pro pictures and that the production models will have the correct radomes. Please, HM, tell me that's the case, because as is, it just looks weird.

Another lesser defect is that the radar-guided missiles (Matra Super-530D/F) have a bit of a bizarre nose to them(should me like an ogive, not a cone). Finally, the Durandal bombs don't belong on a Mirage 2000C, at least not in French service. But I suppose one can just leave those off.

FVD

Just noticed the air refueling probe is also too far offset to the starboard side compared to the real thing. Hmmm...

Up we go, into the Wild Blue Yonder...

You mean the missile is supposed to be more pointy? i'd second you on that
