It could be mineral oil. Ixos ooze the stuff all over the place and it smells nasty.

Re: Peculiar Odor from new A-4E model.

I just got the new A-4E "John McCain" model today. When I opened the blister packaging and removed the model, I noticed a peculiar and really pretty unpleasant odor. I set model on its stand and put the box away, then put the model on a shelf over my desk. The odor is definitely coming from the model, it got so unpleasant that I had to move it outside. I tried cleaning the model with alcohol, it still has the stink to it. This has not happened with any of the other HM products I've purchased, has anyone had anything like this happen? It's not so much a "chemical" type odor, like paint or solvent etc. It's more like a nasty organic odor. I am just about to the point that I might throw it in the trash. If anyone has any idea what the heck this is I would really appreciate any information. Thanks.

Leave it with me and I will see what I can find out for you. Don't do anything else to it. Don't clean it or wipe it, just leave it the way it is. I will get back to you as soon as I can, probably Monday now. Does the retailer live close to you or was it a mail order purchase? Give me what information you can about when, where and anything else. Email me at hawkonevoodoo@yahoo.ca

Thumbs up Re: Peculiar Odor from new A-4E model.

I got my McCain on Thursday and, after reading the post about the odor, I opened the box and did a sniff test. ALL CLEAR
