Question Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes???

I just got my A-10's in and they are nice. The new info card is neat and all.

The stand blows for this model, too wobbly.

The boxes blow, why does this company use such thin bendy cardboard, Mine are both puffy and not perfect. I called the vendor and he said they are all that way, they use to soft or to thin stock for the box. He has extra boxes he can send if I want to cover the shipping.

HM makes a nice product overall, but to get to the #1 position they will need to improve these boxes soon.

I hope the 1/48 scale Buffalos are in a better box. I hope I hope :-)

I have wondered why the boxes were so flimsy also.. This is one reason I like the Predator stuff.. Nice, thick, stackable (or packable) boxes.. I guess HM thinks the clamshell plastic packaging on the inside is enough to protect the item from getting hurt, but some folks also don't want the boxes getting crushed either..

What - you mean you don't throw it away????

I have to say though the Witty Sea Fury box I got the other day wasn't too hot on the strengh dept either, so its not just an HM issue.

Ooops!

Yeah, I think Wittys are worse than HMs.. Makes you wonder who came up with them??

Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes???

I forgot about those Witty Boxes in my madness of having kinda crushed boxes on these new babies.

Some of my Wittys have a flap on the front which is thick like Corgi, but the rest of the box is at best lousy.

Corgis Predators Series Boxes are the best quality and nicest to date on 1/72 scale, plus there info card pamplet is still the best ever on this series.

Still love HM's and all, but they need to improve those boxes big time.

Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes???

Somewhere on the forum this was mentioned and brought to Hobby Master's attention. Their response was they will develop a new box but it isn't going to happen over night. Also the more elaborate the box and graphics and heavier gauge material all have to be factored into the final cost. I guess it is a balancing act, trying to provide the best at a reasonable cost. They are coming, I'll try to get some sort of a timeline.

Keep the boxes light, and the models great.

Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes???

Yeah, stronger boxes would be OK, but I hope it doesn't increase cost by more than a couple of bucks. I don't mind the current ones too much, and that's even though I keep mine for future transportation (as I will eventually move).
