| Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes???
Stupid Comment actually, I cant even believe anyone would rather have the crap box over the much nicer one with neat info and pics on it. Flaps

| Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes??? Now, now, lets be nice. Everyone is entitled to their opinion on this, there really is no right or wrong. To some of us, the boxes are not that important, as long as model arrives OK. | |||||||||||||

It's not a stupid coment if you take price into account. Think about it for a second. No one here will deny they'd prefer a nicer box, if the price is exactly the same. But many of us would rather pay less and get the cheap box. We collect models, so that's what's important to us. And I'm speaking as one who DOES keep the boxes for future transport... But I never, ever go look at my stored boxes for the sheer pleasure of it. I look at my models quite often, though. FVD

| Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes??? Actually Flaps, I DO store all my models in their original boxes. I have only one small case so only my customized models are displayed without the box. I have six HobbyMaster planes stored next to the case and no, the boxes are not bent, scratched, or caved in. My Corgi boxes tend to pick up dings and chipped corners more because they are so glossy and the thicker cardboard is covered by a thin, printed layer which is easily scratched. I don't ever pass on a great model because of the box quality. I also don't buy models I don't like just because the box is of a higher quality. I have a down to earth philosophy here - Corgi's come in their boxes. If I want the model, I pay the price that's asked. Will I pick a Predator series model over a HobbyMaster one based solely on the box? No. Other issues besides the packaging guide my decision here. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes??? When I look back to my early days of making models I always wanted good quality boxes. The reason being that I used to cut the front off the boxes and stick them to my bedroom wall. I had over 200 plastic models so you can imagine what my bedroom walls looked like!!!! Maybe younger collectors do the same today. I dont know but in my opinion its nice to see a good print of the aircraft on the box front and also have a good sturdy box. | |||||||||||||

| Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes??? I will repeat what I have said in other threads: I have limited display space, and depend on good boxes to safely protect my collection when they are not in the open display rotation. Good boxes are important to me. I was recently at Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, and they had a Corgi B-25 on sale because of the damaged box. In spite of the good price, I passed. | |||||||||||||

No, I'd rather not waste a buck. You seem passionate about these boxes and that's great, I don't presume to tell anyone how to enjoy their hobbies. But for me, once I take my model out I never look at the box again. If I want to see the plane, I can look at the one I have displayed, I don’t need to consult the packaging. My planes could come in a plain white box and I wouldn't care as long as it protected it during shipping. That may seem “stupid” to you, but it sure makes a heck of a lot of sense to me. Why would I want to pay a single cent more for something I don't need?

| Re: Why Why Why does Hobby Master Use Crap Boxes??? I even save the shipping boxes with the packing peanuts. I get real upset if the address label is marred in any way. I have built a vast climate-controlled warehouse on my estate, where they are filled with dessicant packets and mothballs, individually hermitically-sealed in plastic, then covered with not one, not two, but three applications of Spraylat before being cataloged and stored away in separate fire/flood/earthquake/tornado/nuclear blast-proof steel vaults. I take this hobby very seriously and I'm a serious collector. | |||||||||||||
