Re: Which A-10 would you like made?

Well I did't want to do this but, how about this scheme?

Personally I love this scheme and it gets away from the all greys and greens. I'm not getting a huge response so maybe the majority don't care but I was hoping we could pick the next couple of A-10s to be produced instead of someone in Hong Kong having to guess what we want. We asked for the A-10's for a long time and now that they are here we're not taking advantage of this opportunity. If they get a poor reception for a plane everyone wanted it just may effect what we ask for in the future. Maybe people don't like to email so if you have choices list them here and I will check and try to keep track.

One member suggested these, let me know what you think about each one.
Last A-10 ever produced (could do it's roll out green/OD scheme) or
(retired in Davis-Monthan tail, Grey markings)
-A-10 78-0626 MA ANG markings, served in Operation Deliberate Force in
Bosnia, was locked onto by SAM's 6 times in one mission, the pilot
evading
all 6 launches
-Pre-production Test bird "Black 7"...basic overall grey, has a black 7
on
nose with lighting bolt through it
-1976 initial production A-10, different grey scheme called first
production
camouflage, bicentennial markings (on tail)

Re: Which A-10 would you like made?

I'm not a big A-10 fan (one of the few planes I can think of that makes the A-6 look like a prom queen), but I might go for a plain-jain MA ANG one...
That Flying Yankees "80 Years" scheme is really bad, but then again I'm not into special schemes much.

Re: Which A-10 would you like made?

I think the A-10 is a true "work horse" type of aircraft, for which colorful airshow/comemorative paint schemes are ill-suited. I almost guarantee people will buy the operational liveries before the "specials" (although there are always exceptions).

The best you can do is what HM did with the "Mil killer," an operational livery which is not especially different than standard squadron A-10s but have a story behind them. The "killer chick" idea earlier in the thread is a good one, I'd buy that one (although I'm probably buying "Mil killer" very soon anyways). I have a FM/Armour European cammo A-10, so I want a grey one now in the smaller scale, without weird colors added.

Re: Which A-10 would you like made?

At todays airshow I talked with a pilot who knows KC, and I mentioned our poll. He thought it was a good idea. And BTW, she is flying with a wing out in Nevada now.
On another note, for prop fans the airshow had a B-25, 2 x P-51s, AD-1 Skyraider, TBM, and two Hollywood Japanese planes from Tora Tora Tora. And the Marines brought two Osprey aircraft, thank god they didn't spin them up for the crowd.

Re: Which A-10 would you like made?

I still say do one matching the markings of that Female Cpt who brought her shot up bird back in one piece. That may help the guys get it pass the Mrs, "look honey a female flew this one". If I can find more info I'll post it, but I'm sure the Air Force has a PAO person with all the details that would help.

I think this is that article you're looking for, Shawn. http://www.aero-news.net/news/milita...29&Dynamic=1#d

She's the daughter of a local assemblyman from San Jose, California. She even went to the same high school I went to.

Yea that be cool to make Kim "Killer Chick" Campbell A-10 have you seen that shot-up bird.
Lucky she made it back and the A-10 is one tough customer.
Cambell's 75th Fighter Squadron "Flying Tiger A-10

I will throw my vote in for this one too...a great aircraft with a combat story to boot..
I have to tell you - before I had seen the article/photos, I had asked a ret. Col who works down the hall, who was an A-10 pilot, if he recalled the pilots name. Another (female) Col (another former pilot) thought it was a great idea to make this model....until I told her the reasoning about keeping the wife in check! She wasn't happy....

I agree with all of you that this would indeed make a fine model with great marketing (and sales) possibilities for HM. Bring it on ...
