Thumbs down HM prices going up, almost as high as Corgi

Just got an email from one of the dealers I buy from and in it there is info on many Hobby Masters prices going way up.

The next batch of anything is more by about 20%

I may have missed something, but I got my Corgi Bush Avenger for $34.88, The HM version is selling for around the same with a substantially less nice packaging.

I am a fan of both Corgi and HM heck I like almost all of my IXO's, but with all the Corgi price bashing going on, this supprised me that another mfg has chosen to raise prices and not just a dollar to two either.

Re: HM prices going up, almost as high as Corgi

Watch 'em sink. I ain't payin' $40 ($42 in this case) for the avg. price of a 1/72 model shipped. No way, no how, uh uh.

$30 is plenty. Watch the inventory mount. Look at all the stuff on Ebay for $9.99-$19.99 and even then there aren't many bids. Do they watch the market? The FMX models are still available except the FW-190 and most of the MZ stuff took forever to sell or is still available.

You can't give the HM Stukas away and I got the Big Fish MIG for $12.

Read this all, who dare to charge me 2 Jackson's for a little airplane.

Re: HM prices going up, almost as high as Corgi

I think it depends where you're buying from. I've seen the HM versions selling for MORE than the Corgi's

TFM seems to generally have some price parity between the comparable HM and Corgi releases, but some of the HM Avengers are even more than the comparable Corgi's.

Ooops!

20% Boy, that's crazy! I must say that this is really bad news. What it means is more cut backs for me.

I think a whopping price increase, on HM stuff, is just a rumor. I carry Hobby Master 1/72 aircraft and the lastest (yesterday) info I've received does not show any price increases on the current stuff or items planned for May & June.

Thanks skidmarks - nice to hear from dealers as you guys get all the latest info. If HMs prices increase that is understandable. Sadly that would really limit the amount of planes I could buy. Right now I put away $5 to $10 per week to "save up" for any particular model (keeps my wife from grumbling). The more expensive a model, the longer it takes to save up. Now I'm down to 6 to 8 models a year so I have to be selective. HM gets first look, but that's because they are priced in my price range.

Unhappy Re: HM prices going up, almost as high as Corgi

I sent an email on the models and was told the cost wholesale on the Avangers was well over 25% more than previous releases, and that the F-104 newest releases coming went up 10%. He said the minimum selling price for the IXO Avengers should be around $32.00-34.00, and as I said I got the Corgi Predator with way nicer packaging for only $34.88, I was told the prices just came out today from the distributors to the dealers. He also said most of the WWII stuff would be around 15% more come April. So it may be new news not everyone has seen or it may be incorrect, but I have dealt with this seller for well over 2 years and all has been fair and done well.

Its not a huge deal to me, I will still find a way to get the models I want, just was suprised to see more price increases after Corgis seemed to affect Corgi quite a bit.

A friend of mine used to work for 3000 Toys, she said the orders for the 07 Corgi stuff at wholesale was down 30% and most of the issue was with higher prices. She told me many larger dealers cut there expected orders in half. I guess they were affraid they would never sell a P-51 for $50.00 in 1-72 scale.

I am ok with $25 to $35 for a well done Avenger , F-104 , Mig21 and so on. But for P-51, Spitfires, P-47's and the like it should be more like $20.00 to $25.00, much more and things are getting out of hand.

I dont see why the new HM A4 sells for so much more than the Mig21 ? Seems to me these should be about the same, so it must have to do with a price increase.

Too bad for me she left the company in Feb for a better job, so I do not have any inside info updates anymore.

All I can say is that I'm not going to be raising my prices on the HM stuff, due out in April, May & June, as there is no reason for me to do so.
