Re: HM prices going up, almost as high as Corgi

I went through the MSRP fromSept 2006 and April 2007.The MSRP for a model that was released in September (F-104 for example) and the MSRP for April has a whopping $1 increase. The same goes for the Stuka, Mig-21, F6F, SBD. The Avenger costs more than an F6F simply because it requires more molds to build it and it is bigger and requires more material. Additional armament and add ons will also add a dollar or two. There is no huge increase in the MSRP for the last 8 months so don't get all stressed out. The cost of material has increased and wages in China are going up at a rate of about 10% and I think so far Hobby Master has been able to absorb most of this. What else can I say, I'm looking at the same MSRP for April that the retailers get.

Re: HM prices going up, almost as high as Corgi

I'm glad to hear HM prices are in fact being kept in check.

Significant, sudden price increases have been tried before, by Corgi (about 4 or 5 years ago if I remember well) and FM right after they acquired CDC/Armour, and it backfired every time forcing them to reverse course. I'm willing to bet it will happen again for both companies, particulalry since competition is way more intense now than it was back then (plenty of new players in the market). I, for one, will wait to buy their new releases until the lack of demand forces them to cut prices back. I'm not in that much of a hurry. I'll wait it out.

I waited to acquire EI products until they cut their prices. That's the better way to go if you ask me (granted, they were starting pretty high, but the quality is there).

Yes, quite agree hawkonevoodoo. This is NOT an official HM increase, more likely who ever is selling these or may even be the importer of HM into your country? As for 20%. Shop around.

The UK market is also very stable at present too with Tiger Hobbies that import the items and i have spken to him and although you have a lsight increase over various toolings (due to weight and import) which means some prices will fluctuate, HM have not officially increased any prices.

So relax and look around is my opinion.

Re: HM prices going up, almost as high as Corgi

I have to say I dont understand how an Avenger should be $12.00 more than a Dauntless, a few dollars I get. Also the prices are within $7.50 of Corgis much nicer Predators, so then what everyone is saying here is that on the Predator Series the prices is very fair by these standards????

Why would the A-4, which size wise is not as big be even more money? Maybe this price was already more and my dealer did not realize it?

You'd be amazed at the cost of making a mold, this is why most companies need to produce about 5 realeses just to recoup their expenses. Most planes require about 8 molds to produce a completed plane. The A-4, though smaller in stature requires 12 molds, therefore the higher retail price. So as you can see, the complexity of a model can actually be more of a cost factor then size.

I for one would rather support a company that listens to it's collectors rather than making another repaint of the same mold time and time again. If it is a few bucks more, than so be it. And for the record, I think Hobbymaster's Bush Avenger is way more accurate than the Corgi one.

Great statement to put things in perspective, Raddger. We here in America sometimes don't realize the good things we have, and then easily take things for granted.
