Hobbymaster And Corgi Partners ?

I posted this email on the UK forum this morning, it may be old news Stateside, but for those who are unaware

Some of you may be interested to see this, having read the posts regarding the rumour that corgi and Hobbymaster were to form a partnership!!. I emailed hobbymaster with the following:

Hi There,

Can you tell me if it is true what I hear on the forums, that you will no longer be producing 1/72 aircraft under your own brand name, and all this range will be sold as corgi Preditors?. I cant believe this is true, as your research and accuracy are so good. Corgi’s choice of livery shades is far different, even when the same livery is depicted (Hellcat) theirs is a completely different colour. Regards:

their prompt reply was :

"Hi Ian,

The adverse is the truth. We will no longer supply our products to Corgi after the Predator. We may even hold the second or third series.
Thank you for your concern.

Re: Hobbymaster And Corgi Partners ?

I hope this is false info, I like the Predators a lot, I like the removeable gear and the really nice packaging with the booklet.

Lets hope this is false. Looking forward to the Migs coming.

No, this is not false information at all, but comes straight from the horses mouth - HM. If only Corgi had of sorted themselves out sooner!

I for one are pleased that HM are going alone and giving Corgi a GOOD run for their money. It's about time.

Re: Hobbymaster And Corgi Partners ?

This is the first that I had ever heard of the rumor that Hobby Master was to stop selling under their own name. That's a shame about HM's response, Corgi's "Predators of the Skys" series is selling much better than the standard Hobby Master line.

I wouldn't advise canceling any of your pre-orders just yet.

Re: Hobbymaster And Corgi Partners ?

Sounds more like Hobby Master is going to stop working with Corgi than the other way around. Wonder what, if anything, Corgi might have done to disolve the deal? (Or did Hobby Master decide to disolver the deal?)

Anything for a weird life.

Mhackl. It is true that HM are pulling out of supplying Corgi with future product (as it stands), but Corgi have only themselves to blame I am afraid. They have simply out-stretched themselves and with the new managament structures, etc., then things have to change and the belt tightened.

Read into that what you will. I am unable to say anymore at this stage.

Re: Hobbymaster And Corgi Partners ?

Kind of wondered why HM would want their models sold under two brand names. While they probably got something from Corgi for each model sold, the packaging developed by Corgi (their strong point!) must have cut into HM's share of each model type (if you've seen the Predator packaging, you'll know what I mean). That's speculation, of course. Maybe Corgi just put the strong arm on HM, and HM decided they didn't need the stress of working with the pup. Hopefully, we'll know why someday...

Erm. No.

But I do know what you mean about the packaging and I am sure HM are learning fast.
