Re: Hobby Master beats Corgi Predators in realism, why

Agree with you guy's HM is better and less expansive.

Realy less expensive. They are the same price on the TFM.

Francly the awful weathering on HM kill it for me. Yes planes do get bashed and battered, but I am yet to see a wartime photo of a Hell Cat that looks like someone as painted black rings round it.

Ooops!

Thumbs up Re: Hobby Master beats Corgi Predators in realism, why

I do not aggree, I got the two Corgi F-104's and I love them. they are by far the best markings yet and the packaging is amazing, quite a good read.

I also have the Corgi Bush Avenger on its way too me as I write this.

I like my Matchbox one...

I would have to agree here with CH. The Matchbox version seems to be the forgotten brother. I would also have to say that Matchbox used more metal in there molds than HM. I only have 2 Mb out right now a F-86 and a Mig 15 and both are heavier than the HM F-104 and Mig-21 that I own.

The MB planes are really good and heavy...Expect for the F-100 i think is plastic.
But the MB Hellcat does seem to be the forgotten fighter here.
Today it's one of the best F6F Hellcats that i own and i have all 3 of them.
I do have a HM and Dragon one as well.

The weathering is a matter of personal taste.
IMO it makes the model look like a real aircraft replica & less toy like.
Also the panel lines on the cambpell hellcat & last two f-104's have been very light, no big black rings there.

But the main thing is the Predators Hellcat & F-104 lack a lot of the small details found the HM version.
All you have to do is look at the side by side photos, they prove it, it's clear as day.
Once again the photos.

Im not bashing the Corgi versions, they are nice models.
For those collectors who like the clean look they make a good choice.
It's just too bad those collectors wont get all the detail in their models that is found on the HM versions.

Re: Hobby Master beats Corgi Predators in realism, why

Hey there folks,
Hobby Master birds are far nicer, IHMO, than anything Corgi is putting out. While Corgi has made strides forward, their planes still look like toys. Hobby Master birds may be toys, but they are NICE toys.

Re: Hobby Master beats Corgi Predators in realism, why

I proudly display my MB versions alongside my Dragons,HM's and Corgi's. I really like the job MB did too bad they are done. If I had to choose between HM and Corgi it would be Hm by a mile. I just can't seem to justify the Corgi price and lack of some small yet important detailing just my 2 cents. This is not a let's bash %$#% thread but moreso an opinion of the two lines.

Re: Hobby Master beats Corgi Predators in realism, why

Obviously, everyone has an opinion..
I prefer Corgi/Gemini over HM and Dragon, but my collection is not only a hobby, it is also an investment... I do own a select few HM pieces, but just because they are unique schemes not done by anyone else.. I don't expect a return out of them and I can bet I'll never see one..

I enjoy my hobby to its fullest and I also have the satisfaction of knowing at the end of the day, the money I have spent isn't just thrown in a hole...

Re: Hobby Master beats Corgi Predators in realism, why

After seeing the comparison shot, I'll have to say I agree that Hobby Master's Hellcat blows away Corgi Predator's. I won't be getting many more Predators except for the Midway Dauntless, just can't justify that based on packaging. Also, notice the lack of rear windows on the Predators version. The color difference is bad enough, but the lack of correct rear windows throws things totally off. Come on Corgi, in this case Dragon and HM blow you away.
