Sorry about that!
I was pulled away to help inventory all of the stuff that came in. I had already created all of the thread leads and didn't want to loose my my work. The last time I did something like this I came back only to have my login timed out and I lost all of my work. Sorry for the excessively long wait.

It was worth the wait, now everyone go out and buy it and then tell Jim what you think. If its really good I will have to find the funds to buy one.

I see my good intentions of debt reduction are going to pot.

(and I'll need heavier shelves to boot)

Re: HA1102 Grumman Hellcat Mk.II

I really wish they had done the tail differently. That tail seam is sure to be problematic.

Re: HA1102 Grumman Hellcat Mk.II

I had a chance to pick up one of these today in Southern California.

Very nice. Camo seems well done and markings are crisp. There is a gap in the upper fuse just forward of the tail but, at least on this camo version, it is not an eyesore or distraction (at least not to me).

Heavy model, with bombs, rockets, canopy, u/c options, and drop tank all optional. Weathering is subtle- mainly exhaust stains. There is some darkening on the underides of the horizontal stabilizer just aft of the hinged control surface. I suspect this may not be intentional weathering but rather excess wash from filling in the panel lines.

The panel lines are heavier on the underside. They are more noticeable due to the lighter color but, beyond that, appear to be a bit darker in any case. Some will like this and some will not. To my taste, the wash/panel lines is much better on the underside of the wing but just so-so on the underside of the horizontal stab. Should be interesting to compare this with the apparent lack of washed or inked panel lines on the Corgi Predators.

If anyone at Hobby Master is listening I would suggest making a concerted effort to be sure the panel lines stay extremely subdued on future releases. I think the wash has to be really thin.

On a side note, I saw, but did not purchase, the other new releases (Minsi III Hellcat, F-104s, Operation Torch SBD and Greek and Iraqui Migs. All very nice. I especially like the SBD and the Iraqui Mig which, unlike all the others, has color box art. Also, if I recall correctly, some or all of the jets had removable pilots.
