The tooling could be easily modified to accommodate a MD-21 drone:

Clicked on quote just to see this photo again. AWESOME!!!! I have seen the one at Duxford but to see one live , well it would be AWESOME!! Note the word AWESOME keeps appearing when talking about this AWESOME bird. Yes I would buy one .
Oh yea! That's one bad bird. It would be cool if the A-12 could also be tooled.

Re: Would you buy a SR-71 in 1/72nd

I remember one time as a kid i heard the engines of a SR-71 and let me tell you.......That was LOUD i must of heard that thing at least a 1/2 mile from the runway.
It was also a sight i will never forget......She was so slick looking and loud and fast...Must of been awsome to fly her too.

Re: Would you buy a SR-71 in 1/72nd

You can always just go to the Museum of Flight in Seattle and see the real thing. Only bare-metal Blackbird on display AFAIK. And the only surviving drone-carrier.

PS--a drone-carrier (M-21) does require a new rear fuselage/sting compared to the A-12, and I think a different canopy area as well. They were quite unique planes.

PPS--www.habu.org is THE site to go for Blackbirds. Most of the pics I posted came from there.

Re: Would you buy a SR-71 in 1/72nd

The real thing is on display at Seattle's Museum of Flight with the drone in position, so no problem getting the details correct.

I remember touring MASDIC at Tucson, AZ. many years ago, probably late -1970s, and seeing a whole row of these drones sitting on trestles; anyone know if they are still there?

This entire thread has been forwarded to Hobby Master, what will come from it down the road I have no idea only time will tell. Keep the pictures and data coming you just never know.

Re: Would you buy a SR-71 in 1/72nd

I'd certainly take an M-21 with the D-21 and if they're going to keep punching out variants of that airframe why not make a YF-12?
