Re: HobbyMaster Double Props

I'd love to see these twin engined aircraft in 1/72nd:
P-61 Black Widow,
B-26 Marauder,
A-26 Invader,
A-20 Havoc,
F7F Tigercat,
C-47 in D-Day markings
I would buy at least one of each of these types and probably two of the Marauders and Invaders.

Dennis

Re: HobbyMaster Double Props

Hey Hawk, are you able to tell us anything yet on the new birds?

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: HobbyMaster Double Props

Surely no WW2 aircraft collection can be complete without the Avro Anson. The glass-house version with mid-upper turret served well in the early days in Coastal Command. Later with /without turret is was used as a hack and wireless op or navigation trainer. the later versions got rid of all the glass sides. A lot were used in France as comm a/c shuttling back to the UK and some appeared in D-day markings also with the Star & Bar. A few even operated on floats with the South African Air Force. A total of 11,020 were built, many serving with ten other air forces. The Canadian-built ones were almost all painted bright yellow.

In 1953, I had the pleasure of flying in what must have been one of the last early versions still in service between RAF Binbrook and RAF Coltishall and back sitting in the co-pilot's seat. The price was to wind up the landing gear by hand which took some 113 turns...b*^%#y hardwork. I can fix the year accurately because as we climbed through a hole in the clouds to emerge into the clear we were confronted by a formation of Washingtons (RAF B-29s) rehearsing for the Queen's Coronation Review. We slipped rapidly back into the clag for a few minutes! ATC in those days was simply "see and be seen".

I hear that, Jetfan! Not only would I love the Annie in 1/72, but how about a WWII twin trainer trio - Avro Anson, Airspeed Oxford and Cessna Bobcat. I won't get my hopes up, but how awesome that would be!!

Re: HobbyMaster Double Props

I’m a huge fan of the A26 Invader. It's not a sexy fighter or massive bomber, but it's one of my favorite WWII planes. There’s just something about it, especially the variants with all the forward firing .50s in the nose and wings, that I really like. Now I’ll need a Black Widow, a Havoc and a Marauder too…But it’s the A26 that really gets me goin’! If for some reason I could only get one, it would definitely be the Invader...Loaded for war...With Invasion stripes! Woo...I gotta cool down...

Re: HobbyMaster Double Props

I would love an A-26 and A-20. There are a ton of schemes to do for both.
