That's Darryl Greenamyer scratchbuilt F-104 which he took it out and bagged the low-level world speed record over a three kilometer course at 1,590 km/h (988.26 mph). On a side note,
casual observers might recall the adventure documented by NOVA "B-29 Frozen in Time" the utterly crushing failure of Greenamyer's attempt to recover a priceless World War II bomber from a Greenland glacier.

Hi

I would go for CAF operational, Danish, Turkish, Spanish for me the list is almost endless but I would prefer more operational color schemes to the "specials". One small point is that pre-production photos of the PAF 9th Squadron F-104 looks like a G when the information I have is that the PAF only had A's and B's ???????????

You are correct; Pakistan only had "A" and "B" models. The same for Jordan.

The thing to remember here is this model and a few others weren't Hobby Master originals, enough said.

Hi I am a really BIG fan of the Hobby Master series so I am not slagging them off, but I find it a little bizarre for a company that appears to be attempting to produce well made accurate die-cast models to release a model that is so obviously wrong? :-). I can probably guess the "not Hobby Master originals" reference but still It is a strange turn of affairs in a competitive market.....as usual this is just IMHO :-)

Re: What F-104 color schemes would you like to see?

Here's some pics that I cropped from a picture of the Victory Productions 1/48th scale US/NASA Starfighters decal sheet. This sheet can be seen in its entirety on the Internet Modeler website.
These are the 479th TFW birds that I would really like to see in diecast. Each individual squadron is represented.

Re: What F-104 color schemes would you like to see?

All seems to have gone quiet on the 104 front for the moment, and being the new guy around here I thought I'd pump a little life into this thread. I was always a fan of the CF-104, and remember them flying over on NATO excercises in the mid 1980's. The engines used to howl and sounded like nothing else I've heard before or since. It's a shame that the only Canadian bird has been that garish tiger jet. I would still to like see a standard mid 80's camo scheme, but the early RCAF machines at CFB Lahr looked very nice too, just can't get over the size of the wing roundels!

Re: What F-104 color schemes would you like to see?

I just saw the first post in this thread and noticed wish no.4.

My personal opinion: if there´s one German aircraft that I would normally not need as a diecast model then it is the F-104 of the German Marineflieger.

Reason: view below. I have made them 4 years ago, long before my interest in diecast planes started.

I might think about my point of view again if HM or would do this beauty AND donate some realistic armament instead of those boring underwing fuel tanks. Mostly the Marineflieger F-104Gs used unguided missiles (FFAR) and they were also capable of loading Mk.82, Mk.83, etc. If HM could provide us the Kormoran Air-to-Surface-Missile, this would be the greatest thing. In this case, HM, please keep in mind that the Kormoran needed a completely different underwing pylon than the fuel tanks did. @Hawkonevoodoo: if necessary, I can send You some pics which show that pylon!
