| Re: Pics of the New Starfighter Yep! This one’s definitely on my list of gotta-gets! If the '104's silver finish is anywhere near as realistic as the Lexington Dauntless's, I’ll be as happy as a clam!!! | |||||||||||||

| Re: Pics of the New Starfighter
Okay, a bit off topic here but it just struck me. Does anyone know the origin of this particular phrase? I've used the phrase a few times myself and don't exactly know why clams are happy. Please, take advantage of the humor element but feel free to drop a bit of edification if you can.

| Re: Pics of the New Starfighter
Meaning Very happy and content. Origin An early version is 'as happy as a clam at high water'. Clams are free from the attentions of predators at high tide. Perhaps that's a reason to consider them happy then. The earliest known citation doesn't mention water though. That's in 'Harvardiana', 1834: "That peculiar degree of satisfaction, usually denoted by the phrase 'as happy as a clam'."John G Saxe, the American writer best known for his poem 'The Blind Men and the Elephant', used the phrase in his 'Sonnet to a Clam', in the late 1840s: Inglorious friend! most confident I amThe phrase originated in the US and possibly before 1834. In 1848 the Southern Literary Messenger - Richmond, Virginia expressed the opinion that the phrase "is familiar to everyone".

| Re: Pics of the New Starfighter I enjoyed reading it. That 104 looks good. Hope they don't paint panel lines on it. Didn't Historical Bob have one like this once? | |||||||||||||

| Re: Pics of the New Starfighter
Panel lines have been mentioned to Hobby Master directly and they are working on it with the factory to come up with some way of reducing them especially where the gaps between parts is larger than on the fuselage. Example, the tail where rudder joins the tail, the gap is more pronounced than the regular panel lines and more weathering gathers there and stands out more. Like you mentioned, on some of the more colorful models, these lines stand out more. Personally, I would be quite happy if they didn't add the weathering at all. I think they make such a nice model that it doesn't require any of this. Again, this is just my personal opinion. http://www.hobbymastercollector.com/ still no signature that will self attach to my posts so I have to add it myself. In preview it is all there in HTML, it just won't attach to the post.
