You can display the F-104s on the stands with the missiles attached. A tiny drop of white glue will take care of the wing tanks.

Disappointing that another Hobby Master model needs glue, taken the shine off the brand a bit. I was looking forward to some F-104's but after the trouble I had today of assembling the Iraqi Mig-21, I don't think I will be buying any more. Having said that I will probably end up with them all.

Re: Pics of the New Starfighter

Okay, a bit off topic here but it just struck me. Does anyone know the origin of this particular phrase? I've used the phrase a few times myself and don't exactly know why clams are happy. Please, take advantage of the humor element but feel free to drop a bit of edification if you can.

Oh man! I thought it was because of the wife or girlfriend's slang-word for a certain body part!

Re: Pics of the New Starfighter

You know, I didn't have any problem with my Mig.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Just got the F-104 in the mail on Monday. Haven't had the chance to put the little bugger together yet. Did take it out of the box of course and does have great detail and love the color scheme! The tanks of the wings look great!

Re: Pics of the New Starfighter

I managed to pop one of the missles from its track, however, a quick drop of super glue fixed it without a hitch. When I replaced the missle I was able to tilt it just far enough for the lip of the stand to fit between the fins as in HawkOne's pic. Perfect!

It sounds like Elmer and I both got one where the guidance fins on the missles were a wee bit closer than on other models. No problem at all. And if the pop off their track they are super easy to glue back on - you'll be the only person to know you did.

Give it a shot Elmer. You may need to gently finesse the one end of the stand between the fins, but once there it goes together nicely.

Thanks Hawk!

Thanks for the directions Black 6, I will give it a try.

Ya know... I had no trouble assembling "Really George". In fact, it was a pleasure to assemble. My wing tanks required no glue, they fit nicely. The gear assembled without a hitch--no glue and no alignment (guesswork) required! Unlike some other company !! I used a sanding stick to take the paint off the tab for the nose probe, and it went on without force. I haven't assembled a MiG yet (I am waiting for the Soviet version), but after assembling "Really George" I am encouraged. Go for it! You may be pleasantly surprised.

Re: Pics of the New Starfighter

Here's something I found on Hobbymastercollector's site.
http://www.hobbymastercollector.com/...neseF-104.html

The only Stars I ever saw flying for real were from the unit depicted in that model. I saw them do touch and goes at Naha International airport, and must admit they made quite a sight doing their thing. I would have liked getting a Taiwanese version, since they were so successful in air to air combat against Mainland China, but am not holding my breath on the possibility of getting one. If this model is an international release, it will definately join my collection.
