Re: Pic: Upcoming Royal Navy Hellcat -- Hobbymaster

I bet HM and/or Corgi and certainly Dragon will get around to the three-tone eventually. I'd love to see that myself, but I do think this scheme is pretty cool.

Re: Pic: Upcoming Royal Navy Hellcat -- Hobbymaster

They already fixed a couple issues versus the Minsi mold, I believe -- such as removing the rear window from the cockpit..

Pappy - presume you meant the little window that features on the F6F-3, that isn't (generally) there on (most of) the F6F-5's, right ?????

The fuselage & underwing markings that I see in your pix are typical late war toned down F.A.A. markings, yet that fin-flash would (in reality) most probably have ended up, with the Red area having been painted out, in keeping with (the strict) regulations.

Nice looking scheme, & different too.

I have a book somewhere, that should/may or will, link those markings/unit/Sqdn, to a certain Royal Navy carrier.

From my website:
In January 1945 the squadron embarked on HMS Ameer to provide cover during the landings on Ramree Island. In April of the same year they were assigned to HMS Empress and took part in attacks on the Andaman Islands and along the coast of Burma.
June 1945 the 804 was on the move again but it was back to HMS Ameer in time to participate in strikes on Sumatran airfields and Phuket Island. Their next move was after VJ-Day in November 1945 when the squadron returned home to Great Britain.

Dog-gone it PappyB! What's wrong with you guys!? Along with the camo F104 I've been contemplating today you guys just sealed it. They're heading this way soon! Cool pics. I'd fancy the cordite stains too!

Well I got my pre-orders in!! On both!

Re: Pic: Upcoming Royal Navy Hellcat -- Hobbymaster

Sniper - an utterly superb series of photo's......

My fave' is the 2nd one down (after the signed card), where they're all lining up for the off, mouthwatering.

I seem to recall having seen the 2nd from last photo before, (or one identical to it), possibly in the book I mentioned in an earlier post - which I picked up at the National Fleet Air Arm Museum, at Yeovilton on one of my last visits, regarding F.A.A. Corsairs & Hellcats.

The third picture from the top shows 6K K ready to launch and the fin-flash is the same as on the model, the red section is present with just the small white portion separating the blue and red.
