HA1402 - Skyhawk

My Hobby Master HA1402 A4-B Skyhawk (Cdr. L.W. Baldwin, USS Essex) arrived this morning. I'm over the moon! Ever since I have collected diecast I've been waiting for a 1:72 Scooter to hit the market. I held off buying "The Last Skyhawk", coz I'm not really into "special" schemes. But this one is sooo nice - very nicely detailed, weighty (ie. plenty of metal), and it just looks right.

About the only criticism I have is that I'm starting to agree with some of the comments about the wash in the panel lines - imo the topside looks OK, but the underside, which is much lighter in colour, is just a little too dark. But the coolness of the model far outweighs that minor consideration!

All-in-all, a fantastic addition to the collection!

Now HM, please, please, please will you do an RNZAF A-4K (or A-4M) for me?

Re: HA1402 - Skyhawk

Thanks for the pics, Gerry! The Egyptian MiG-21 will be a nice addition to my "Six-Day War" collection. I just wish HM will hurry up with an Israeli airforce A-4 Skyhawk scheme!

Isn't HM Egyptian MiG-21 from Egypt-Lybian "hostilities". Also, at this point Egyptian MiG-21s carried US Sidewinders. Also, another twist on Egyptian Air Force is that its pilots flew quite a few combat missions for ... the Iraqi airforce during Iran - Iraq war.

Regards,

Sergey

Yes, I would agree with Berkut76. The Egyptian paint scheme on the new HM MIG-21 appears to be that of the late 70s or early 80s. I wish they had selected a more historically representative one, like for example one from 1973 or so.

The HM Egyptian Mig-21 is from 1981.
It was not only the Egyptian Air Force pilots, but also their Mirage 5's that flew against the Iranians, several being lost in combat.
