Second helicopter

Would really like to see the Cobra done. I know paint schemes are what determines what is made or not. Anyway here goes seven paint jobs here and this doens't even include the grey tone used by the USMC. This would make for a second nice bird in 1:72.

This photo was shot at Robins AFB in Georgia. They had a nice display of model aircraft.

Cool Re: Second helicopter

Hi dJames. Welcome to the forum. You're not the only one who'd like to see more Cobras. Corgi and FM do one in 1/48 but 1/72 is a really cool idea. I'm game! I only have one Corgi Cobra which is my only 1/48 model. Didn't realise that I had anything in 1/48.

Re: Second helicopter

I'd like to see the Cobra AH-1F and AH-1W. I worked a little on AH-1 MOD S's which were converted G's using the TSU, Turrent Sighting Unit and TOW missle, Tube launched, Opictally tracked and Wire guided Making a G into a Mod S would be easy by making interchangable noses. Also adding a Seperate Toilet bowl and Kaman M/R Blades instead of the 540 rotor system. We used to use an old TOW missle tube to put our ALSE gear in and hung it on one of the missle racks.

Re: Second helicopter

Lakota, Were you in a Guard unit with the Mod S's. ?

I would love someone to do a MOD 's so I could recreate some the Snakes from my old Guard unit. I had plans to convert a Corgi G with a few plastic parts from a cheap Fully modernized
plastic kit but realized I could not adapt the TSU nose to fit over the Corgi metal nose with out chopping away some metal.

I guess I will have to wait until someone makes one in diecast.

Re: Second helicopter

Yes I was a Tech Insp in the 1-189th AHB MTARNG in Helena MT. the Vigilantes. I was a Full time Technician for 22 years.. Started out as a 45M (later 68J) aircraft armament tech, Trained on the G model in Maryland but MT still had UH-1M's and were just getting rid of the B model Went to Uh-1 school OJT on OH-58A we got AH-1S's in 1987 - 1996 I think then to UH-60A's School trained on the AH-1 @ WATTS in AZ and they brought the school for 60's to us in 1997 Wow it's been 10 years!!!!!! The Guard then fielded The LUH Battalions with UH-1's and a Medevac UH-1V's later UH-60 I was the sole UH-60 TI in the Med.
we also had a unit of 5 OH-58A+'s Called the FROGS Friggen Really Old Guys. All six officers were over 50 and W-4 with one reverted Major to CW2. I have their patch it's a 58 superimposed over a tree frog That says Old Age and Treachery will always overcome Youth and Skill. Things always change MT now has 4 CH-47D's and a 12 million dollar AASF along with 12 or so Hawks.and 3 OH-58A+'s RAID and 1 C-12 Kingair eventually the will get 2 UH-72 Lakotas to replace the 58's
You can go to justhelicopters.com and check out photos my coworker posted or to UH-145.com to read more about the Lakota. We 're trying to name all 6 of our med birds after the Actors in the Movie Dances With Wolves. My Lakota is 005 and I named it Kicking Bird My other friend Randy named His 006 Stands with A fist and my Buddy George 001 I named his TWO DOGS LOL LOL Thanks for letting me share my memories. .

Re: Second helicopter

I'm confused by "Second Helicopter". Is there a first by Hobby Master? If so how in the hell did I miss that!

I know that Corgi's Blackhawk, Chinook, Chactaw, and Seaking are all 1/72nd scale.
