Re: Someone Hobby Master or Corgi Needs to Make

I sat in one on the Intrepid Museum in New York City. They are sweet.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

I agree with all of the above except for the Blue Angels part...The Crusader was briefly considered by the team as a replacement for the Grumman F-11 Tiger (which incidentally served with the Blues long after it's type left fleet service), but since Vought was shutting down production of the F-8, they opted to go with the F-4J Phantom instead.

Wish they would have though, as I'm a diehard Crusader lover. Would have been a sight.....but so were the Phantoms.

I agree, an F-8 would be an excellent choice - just like the P-61.

Re: Someone Hobby Master or Corgi Needs to Make

The F-8 was not only Gorgeous, it (and its drivers) had real cajones. A single-seater, so no "back-seat driver" (and this is the way pilots prefer it), a great gun platform, and I've seen them come down on the deck, below tree level, to strafe.

Bring them on: both 1:72 and 1:48!

Thumbs up Would be terrific !!!

The French variant of the F8E had larger wings to reduce landing speed for compatibility with smaller carriers.

However, I would take any Crusader : just LOVE it !!!
