Re: 1/72 Chaffee pics now up!

All the pre-orders point to an August release date. (Same for the French M10.)

Though I wouldn’t mind a slight postponement while they add some of the missing details… I'd rather get a homerun in the fifth than a single in the third. (Provided the bases aren't juiced in the third...But you know what I mean!) Especially since HM hasn't been frightened by such details in the past I think it would be a shame to lose them, for any reason, now. Discerning collectors are keeping their fingers crossed HM...We're counting on you!

Re: 1/72 Chaffee pics now up!

The Flying Mule has pictures up of this model. Looks like they did NOT add lamp guards or lifting rings after all. I’d really like to add some M24s to my collection, but I can’t bring myself to settle for a model I consider sub-standard compared to earlier HM releases. I really hope they eventually decide to rectify the deficiencies we’ve pointed out, as up until this point Hobby Master has been very receptive to our commentary. It wouldn’t take much for them to turn this model into a real winner (and nothing they haven‘t done on previous releases), but until they make those changes I’ll regretfully be sitting on my wallet.

Cool Re: 1/72 Chaffee pics now up!

I'm looking at the HM M-24 Chaffee in my hand. I agree that there could have been more fine detail on to this model. I've built this model from a plastic kit in 1/72 scale and it has many more detailed parts. The HM effort is a good representation of the original, but not all it could have been. I'm not really inclined to go through the effort to "fix" the HM version. I would have to go to my Hunnicutt and then cut off lumps and sand the model, then fabricate all the "fiddley bits". If I wanted to do that I'd put together another 1/72 plastic model and super detail it. So, I'm not unhappy with the model, but I'm not thrilled either.
