Saladin Armoured Vehicle

I would love to see Hobby Master produce the Saladin preferably in desert camouflage and jungle green schemes.

Re: Saladin Armoured Vehicle

Excellent suggestion! I love recce vehicles, APCs, IFVs and light tanks. I would like to see it in 1:48 or 1:35 scale....a whole fleet of them pos-WW2 British AFVs, with the scimitar, spartan, swingfire, striker, scorpion, saracen and of course, the warrior. 1:72 would be wee bit too small, but I will still settle for it if any manufacturer cares to make them.

Actually i have a completed kit made many years ago from Tamiya 1/48 scale ( I think ). It is one of my favourite. I'm no expert in assembling models but it was quite a decent effort using the most basic "badger". I'll have to dig my stroage room and check whether i still keep it or accidentally tossed it out when i moved to a new house.

Re: Saladin Armoured Vehicle

According to Mike's diecast site, playart produced a saladin amoured car in 1:72 scale. I think there's also a ferret scout car in the range. I'm not familiar with the brand and me thinks these have been retired long before I started diecast collecting.

Can't help you on that Paladin. I built the Tamiya's Saladin kit way back in 1982 and back then the only brands that are sold in the local stores are Tamiya; Hasegawa; Nichimo; Airfix; Revell; Italarei and Matchbox. I don't even know that brand ever exist !! Unlike today with internet access, you will be amazed at number of other brands especially from Eastern Europe.

Re: Saladin Armoured Vehicle

That's a neat vehicle. What were the years of service?

Re: Saladin Armoured Vehicle

Good looking vehicle, always have liked the looks of wheeled armored vehicles.

Brewster Buffalo, Hawk 75A, Fokker D.XXI, Polikarpov I-16, Fiat G.50, Macchi C. 200, PZL P.11c, Fieseler Fi 156 Storch ,,,, now those are real planes.

Maybe HM could jump on the Stryker and ASV (very under-rated and rarely mentioned vehicle, but incredibly important in Iraq) if we get more support for them.

Now that would be make for an excellent choice, one of the better looking wheeled armored vehicles too.

Re: Saladin Armoured Vehicle

Don't know much about its history but the Saladin served in various countries such as Britain; Germany; Portugal; Africa; Arab peninsula; Middle East; Sri Lanka and Indonesia.

The Saladin was a six-wheeled British armored car produced between the 1950s and 1972. The Saladin was manned by a crew of three protected by armour ranging from 8 to 32 mm thick and armed with a 76 mm gun, one 7.62 mm coaxial machine gun and one 7.62 mm anti-aircraft machine gun. The Saladin had a top speed of 72 kmh and a range of 400 km. Some were used in the early stages of Desert Storm by the Kuwaiti Armed Forces.
