First look at the M10 and Centurion

Hobby Master Collector has pages up for two new 1/72 scale vehicles. No pictures of the protos yet, but you can see the preview art here and here.

I'm really excited to see the M10 going forward! I guess I should wait until the first actual pics come in, but I'd like to mention that the vast majority of M10s in the ETO had grouser stowage racks on the sides of the hull. I REALLY hope they’ll be included on future releases.

…And did “A21” have the later “duckbill” counterweight?

*On a pedant note, I hope on the actual releases the US M10s won't be labelled "Wolverine" as it was not a US nickname and I don't believe they were ever called that by GI's. According my sources it was a purely British name for the M10. If anyone has any documents that point to US troops ever adopting the nickname (like they did with the 'Sherman' and 'Priest') I'd be very interested. The modeling industry named the M36 the "Jackson" and it still hasn't been able to shake it. (The M36 was never known as the "Jackson"…Ever. While the name showed up in model kits, period references give the M36 the unofficial nickname of “Slugger”...When nicknamed at all. Since TDs had no history of being named after generals I’m not sure where “Jackson” was pulled from in the first place.)

Re: First look at the M10 and Centurion

I'm really looking forward to this release. It's even better yet that it's for Normandy, though it could really be used for much later on as well. I already have the perfect crew picked out for the interior.

I'm not sure if A21 had the later counter weight turret, but it is possible for the Normandy time frame. I hope the turret interior is complete.

Re: First look at the M10 and Centurion

In the profile found here A21 has the mid production type turret balance, so I'm curious... I assume there's a "well known" photograph, or some film, of this vehicle out there, I'm just not sure where. I thumbed through my TD books, but couldn't find it. Maybe the rear of the turret is obscured in the source material? Most 703rd info I come across deals with the M36, as they were the first battalion to make the switch to the 90mm TD (starting in September).

Interesting link you've provided there !!!!!!!

I'd love to learn more about the M.10 early-versions....I've always been mad-keen & had a soft-spot for M.10's

Sad 'collector' that I am, I bought the original Tamiya release in 1/35th (though I don't doubt it has 'faults' = everyone says ?)

One day, I'll buy the "AFV.Club" or "Academy" versions

Over the last 15 years I've been fortunate to see & photogaph many examples (primarily in Begium, whilst on Motorcycling Holidays)

Even spent a night parked-up behind an 'Achilles', which is on the Hillside on the Western-bank of La-Roche........

As well as travelled to Arlon, just to see the Town's M.10.

Most of our trips were around the 'Ardennes' region, as I've always had an interest in the 16th Dec'44 'Wacht Am Rhein' "arena".

Re: First look at the M10 and Centurion

For my part, I'm really looking forward to the Centurion. I have to assume we're going to see an Israeli Sho't pretty soon.

Things have changed for HG3401, I don't know why but here is the new information. Picture or drawing to follow soon.
