Re: HM new releases 1.72

What a fantastic piece. HM is doing what Admiral should have.

Looking forward to picking up all models of these along with the Achilles and M36s down the line.

Re: HM new releases 1.72

Cheers, Hawk ! You're our quality control agent....on the job before they cast and duplicate gaffs! Everyone in the know appreciates what you do !

Well done !

MoMo

Thanks. If you or anyone spots something they think is incorrect please drop me an email hawkonevoodoo@yahoo.ca This way you will be assured that I will see it ASAP and no chance of it accidentally being missed in a post. You guys keep up the great work of letting me know there is something good or bad about a model. It's better to have a thousand eyes looking for things than just mine.

I was checking out all the new pics at toybox100bizland and there are some good images to be seen there of the releases which we're all waiting on. The bad news is that the prices seem to have gone up by $2.00 per item. You can see a pre-production pic of the Tank Destroyer, but only a rendering of the Achilles, as yet. I can't wait to see the real thing.

HM is doing us proud.....I'm going to get them all !

MoMo! Check out Hobby Master Collector (Hobby Master Collector Home Page). They have detailed pre-production pictures of the Achilles. I have it (and the M10 Wolverine) on pre-order at the The Motor Pool. Can't wait to get them both!

Side note: The Motor Pool also has a pre-order for a HM Panzer IV Ausf G in 1:72 that I hadn't heard anything about at all!

Re: HM new releases 1.72

Do we know if there are any plans to produce a Churchill? The only one I've found is the FoV offering which I though was a bit toy like. Having just got the 5th RTR Cromwell IV for Christmas I'm keen to see HM produce more British tanks from the WWII period, especially as my wife's grandfather served with the 4th Battalion of the 6th Guards Tank Brigade with Churchills.

I think I'm right in saying that the Observation version of the Cromwell/Centur should have a dummy gun though as well as the railings atop the turret. This example resides at the IWM at Duxford, and clearly shows the fake gun in place.

Dummy gun yes, rails not so sure.

Re: HM new releases 1.72

Anything I have ever read states that the only Cromwells used as AOP and had dummy guns were those used by the Polish groups. If you look at pictures of the Cromwell that was destroyed in Villers-Bocage where the model depicts you will see the regular gun. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Villers-Bocage

I'd tend to disagree on the real gun for the OP variant. Having a breech in the turret gets in the way of all the additional radio sets. Its not that rare for the crews to add a spare muzle brake so it looks like a threat and not an easy kill.
