A fine, hitherto unnoticed, touch of quality

Have you noticed that HM model tanks do not touch their display bases?

For decades, manufacturers have seemingly overlooked the fact that hard and soft plastic (when unpainted) chemically react with each other. Rubber tyres in model cars, and tracks in model AFVs (under certain, unknown-to-me circumstances) tend to stick to plastic display bases, and then melt them at contact sites; they also become damaged in the process. I discovered this the hard way a long time ago, and ever since I've been using tissue paper strips to prevent direct contact between display bases and model tyres or tracks. Well, HM seems to have acknowledged this issue, and cleverly uses boxes where such chemical reaction is no longer a concern! Bravo, HM!

Thanks, for that, chascbv! I was not aware of that, and recently purchased at a garage sale a circular hard plastic jewelry display case that will hold fifteen of my 1:72 fighters. Good to know!

My new Centaur does not comply with the above statement by poor old me!
